Ive come back to notice this place is like a ghost town. Everyone has got busy. Or got married and had children. Or maybe, just gotten some kind of life. In any case...this place looks a bit run down, worn out and very empty. Im wondering if theres anything we can do to spruce the place up. Get people coming back and being interested. OR should we close down shop altogether you think? Has the dj message board run its course? Or is there still life in the old girl? What are your honest opinions everybody? Any ideas on the subject?

I haven't got a clue what's going on or where everyone is...There's a lot going on in the Danko Jones universe (hugo Euro-tour with Motörhead, another Euro-tour in spring 09 just been announced etc.) so I expected that this board would be more lively than it is right now. Maybe new(er) fans can't seem to find it/ don't know about it???

I think a few people have just had babies recently .Some people have got college work deadlines, exams etc. I haven't been around on here for over a week but I have a good excuse...I just got discharged from hospital this evening. Over eight days, I had blood tests, x-rays, an ECG, an ultrasound and MRI scans. I'm trying to adjust to having to use a wheelchair, but I won't let it stop me seeing DJ in Cardiff . And I still want to guide a few of the DJo family around the city centre... take them to Spillers, etc It's good to come back on here and see that you've been posting a bit recently Spun! Don't worry about the board..we still want to keep it going. You're right about people not knowing where to find it though..most people I've talked to at gigs over here didn't know there was a Danko board. I'm doing my best to spread the word!

Ususally there are lots of guest on the board, but not that many registered useres, so I guess the attetion around Danko Jones is good, even though not too many are posting. I`m working on a new Danko Jones website though, and I`m hoping to make it into a sort of Danko Jones comunity or "fan club like thing" if you will, with members registering. It would be great if we where able to integrate this board and the new site. It would make for a much greater resource for fans, and hopefully would generate some more action on the board also. Admins, please let me know if you like that idea!

Whats up bronwen, that doesnt sound good at all hun. Hope whatever it is, that you start feelin better soon. Yeah, Ive been peeking around here every so often, just to check up and see how things are. And I havent seen a lot of people in here in forever...I completely understand the busy situation...most times there arent enough hours in a day...but just wondered if there was more to it. So just thought Id see what everybody's opinion was on the subject. I have noticed theres a lot of users, just no posting (so I dont really know what that means...are people scared...lol)...also Haakon I think you were saying the board is slow...so Im thinking maybe we need to clean it up a bit...get rid of some old stuff. Im also cool for integrating whatever it is youre working on, but see how mr. rocky feels about it...havent seen him around myself.

Cheers H and Spun! Yes it was scary there for a while, but further explaination would need a thread of it's own. I will get better eventually but I can't walk for a while. At the moment it looks like I'll need a wheelchair for the next few months, especially for getting out of the house. Then I'll be using a walking frame or crutches so I can get around using putting weight mostly on my right leg. I don't know when or if I'll be able to walk normally again, let alone run or dance . Thankfully I already have incredible biceps for a small boned petite woman , which comes in handy when trying to roll a wheelchair up a slope, though it's still incredibly hard work. I'm going to look like Popeye soon because of having to pull my entire body weight around with my arms. I'm trying to keep myself cheerful by imagining the arm wrestling matches I'm going to win. The front castor wheels will not go over the slightest bump or kerb though, so I need someone with me to tip the chair back safely to get me over them.

Back on the subject of the board, If you do get rid of some of the older threads could you give us some warning beforehand because I'd like to save them somehow for posterity, maybe get a big block of paper and print the more interesting/ funny ones out. It sounds nerdy but quite often, when the board is fairly quiet, I'll read through the old threads. They're not just an ongoing story of the band, but of the fans here too. I was gutted when the old forum went down. Not only were my first posts on there; there were a lot of classic funny threads too. Remember the banter over oral sex on the 'Lovercall' thread? People were asking what Danko meant by ' I used to watch all the fellows down the block. When they worked I watched and I learned the Lovercall' ; and wondering if Danko was indulging in voyeurism ;D. The guess the lyrics to 'Boogie-woogie' one was good too.

I do know that there are a lot of fans out there that don't really know about this site... I was talking to a girl in the front row at the last Edmonton concert and asked if she was on here, and she didn't even know about it. I passed the word on... no clue if she actually signed up though! Totally going to look up those old threads now bronwen... they sound too funny..

You won't find them JN; sorry that I wasn't very clear there. Those threads were on the forum in the old dankojones.com site. This forum we use here is the original, unofficial fan forum. As far as I know (from reading early threads here dating back to 2003) when the 'official' fan forum was set up on dankojones.com, along with a guestbook, most of the original people here( including Spunshugga) migrated there and this one was frozen. The new official forum and guestbook were pretty busy and attracted a lot of new members, including me... I signed up mid 2004. Because it was hijacked by hackers a few times, the forum was taken down abruptly at the end of 2005 . We lost a few years worth of delicious convo's and gig stories there . I still wonder if anyone saved any of it. This forum we use now was then re-activated . I remember I was trying to use the guestbook on the old site, clicked on something else by accident and got re-directed here . It was more or less a secret link. I noticed at the time that quite a few people had found their way here a few weeks before me...but not everyone found it. We probably lost a lot of members there. I think many of the original members found their way back on this board simply because they knew it existed, and all they had to do was re-activate their old accounts, (post counts included.) I had to register as a new member,(post count back to zero ). For all the newer members ... hope this explains that weird looking 2 year gap in registrations and posts. Sorry if the info is a bit long and boring!

hahaha no worries... I looked and couldn't find them... it was a welcome distraction from studying for midterms for a little bit this week (you wouldn't believe how boring Psychometrics can be)... I read some of the other old posts that were also quite amusing. Sucks that some of the stories were lost though!

I agree that people don't seem to know the board exists. I've often got bewildered faces in response when I've asked people if they've seen it. I tend to chat to people at Danko gigs and try to persuade them to sign up, making the point that it's to be found via dankojones.net. The thing is, once people have had a few drinks and a great night, they tend to forget the finer details by the next day . The board just isn't easy to find really. I think most new fans would automatically type in the band's name followed by a dot com in the hope of finding the official site...and there's no mention of, or link to this board there. Then, if they google the bands name, this board often doesn't show up for many pages. As for finding the band on myspace, that's easy enough...but there's no link there either. On a positive note, the myspace page seems to get a lot of comments, and it's been picking up lately...so has the i-like fanpage on facebook. There's been a lot of positive response from completely new fans who've caught them so far on the Motorhead UK tour ;D. They've also been commenting all over the vids for the singles on you-tube. There's been requests for the guys to come back and play in the UK soon... some pretty heartwarming stuff! ;D

And Haakon, I think your idea for a new fan site is great! ;D Could we have a gallery for our gig pictures, lots of links to vids and interviews etc? Maybe people could help translate news into a few different european languages? We might get some more interest from fans who find english a bit of a struggle. I don't know who runs dankojones.net...it's been kind of 'inactive' for almost a year now. I wouldn't want it taken down, 'cos there's still some great old interviews in the press section and a really good photo gallery (especially the old fan pics.) However, the way the news and tour dates haven't been updated, it makes it look like the site's been abandoned. Maybe someone stumbling upon the site might be put off by that and wouldn't expect to find an active forum? We really need an active fan site to link this board from. We need the band to endorse it too, put a link to it on the official sites... and maybe Danko could post in here more often? Has anyone else noticed it get's busier here when Danko posts ...and lately he hasn't been around here much?

I read this awhile ago, but never really thought anything about it... There is the facebook page for Danko (you just have to search "Danko Jones rocks!" and join the group). There's 966 members of the group and loads of pictures too... all ya have to do is join the bane of the universe known as facebook. And you don't have the same sense of community as you do here in my opinion....

The facebook group's a good idea D'Jane ...I joined! I've thought about handing out flyers for the board, but stuck to the 'word of mouth' approach. We'd need to make sure the flyers state that this board is 'unofficial', and we'd need to ask permission to hand them out, just in case of any legal issues. Did anyone respond to that facebook fan-page update, where Olle from Badtaste records was putting a call out for online street-teamers?

First of all, thats what Olle respondet to my request, if he could help me promote the "Save the Danko Jones Message Board" group, what do you guys think of this? Give the old board up and join the new one? or shall we try to save the old one?:
"Hello! Great to hear from you! There is a new Official Danko Jones Forum being created as we speak. it will be ready very soon. I would appreciate if we don't make a big deal about saving the old one, rather spreading the message that there is a new, better one coming. If you are intrerested about being a moderator we could need your help! please email me at olle@badtasterecords.se for more information. Best Regards Olle"

You know the Danko Jones fan page on Facebook...how it has two comment 'walls', and two fan lists? That's because one fan list and wall is the usual facebook fan page part; the other is run by i-like.com. If you have the i-like application on your profile, you get updates from the bands you have listed on it...videos, mp3's, tourdates, messages etc. A few months ago (early november? Think I was just out of hospital,) there was a message from Olle via i-like update. He was asking people to e-mail him if they were interested in being part of an online 'street' team . You could ask Olle about it next time you e-mail him.
