I was lookin' thru the thread of what people are listening to, and realized a few things... Either I've never heard of the band, and thus wouldn't buy their albums, or I might like the band, but don't necessarily want to buy their album. I thought, "It'd be great if I could hear a song or two from these bands and/or albums, to help decide if I actually like it and would actually spend money on it..." And then it hit me. We should use Yousendit.com! And I don't think it's a bad place to do it, based on Danko's (known) feelings about file sharing! So to get us started, I'm gonna post some of what I've been listening to. Granted, Harry Connick, Jr.'s not so much "Rawk'N'Roll" but I'm gonna put 'im here anyway! s55.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1OZJGFZNO08PN0YLX2RU3B8BIL Something to keep in mind with this site, is that files are only hosted for a week. That's seven days! So if you see a link for something you know you'll like, grab it quick! Rock on, *S

Hell fuckin yes. This is a fabulous idea for a thread, amiss, though I'll have to pass on Mr. Connick. One band I've been listening to lately is New Jersey's Monster Magnet. I recently re-discovered their best record, 1995's Powertrip. My pick is track 4, Temple Of Your Dreams. Give this one a couple listens and tell me if it doesn't get stuck in your head BAD... Temple Of Your DreamsAnd don't forget about Danko's singer's clinic with MM frontman Dave Wyndorf, which is still archived at www.themagicalworldofrock.com/

Wake up, baby, cause I'm coming to you from the future. Don't be surprised when I'm sitting at the foot of yr bed. I'll bring you a light you can never see in the daytime. Planting the seed of my perfume in your head.

Yeah, thanks for that Bomber. That is the version of Sexy Results I heard on the radio. That Big Sugar song which morphs into Cadillac you sent me a long time ago. That's cool to hear again. For my upload this week I'm going to pimp a newer, better file hosting sight. Check out www.quickdump.com. Unlike send it, it doesn't have a 7 day or 25 download limit to it. This has unlimited downloads and stays up until it goes 30 days with nobody downloading it. To celebrate this find, I'm going to post the entire Danko Jones gig from Malmo, Sweden. Not sure about the exact date, but it was pre We Sweat Blood, if I remember correctly. This is the gig where they play that little heard gem Bad Reputation. Rock! Okay, I didn't know about quickdump, but now that I do and have tried it (once) I think I like it better (not just for the lack of limitations). Friday night I saw Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which I have been wanting to see for years now. It was good. Not quite what I was expecting, but good. It was more of a musical than I realized. But in a Rocky Horror kind of way, where the music's good. Indeed, it's ROCK with a whole new twist. Anyway, I was lucky enough to get the soundtrack thru a friend of a friend. Here's one of the songs from the movie that I'm really digging. Click here to download Hedwig and the Angry Inch - The Origin of Love.mp3I don't know if it's as effective without the pictures from the movie... Let me know what y'all think. Rock on, *S

Great idea. And since I've already recommended "Smoke Blow" several times before, here is something to listen to. Preferrably loud. And with beer in reach. Download Senorita Spitfire (~5MB & 3:34mins) It's a track from their first release (anno 2000) "777 Bloodrock". Enjoy. One more thing: the singer is a nursery school teacher by trade. no joke. Jack Letten himself: take care of your kids

Okay I was the first to download the songs from the Hedwig soundtrack, and Smoke Blow. I've stumbled onto a little quirk with Quickdump. It sometimes takes a few tries to start downloading if you're the first person to try downloading it. But after that, it works fine. I see my DJ gig from Malmo has already been downloaded four times, so obviously that's working. If you click on one of the links, it even tells you how many times it's been downloaded. I like that feature.
Didn't really care for the The Origin Of Love, but I'm not much into rock operas or musicals - even fun ones like Rocky Horror. So that's just my bias, I guess. I imagine it's a lot more enteraining with the visuals of the movie.
Smoke Blow was more my speed, though I imagine they're even better live. I remember you posting with some of the crazy stuff they do onstage, Nat.
See? Told you this thread would be fun!

Tidyman, I was the first one to download that Malmo gig and I had NO problem with downloading. It worked the first time. What doesn't work is downloading that Priestess song, but I read that Enomar's having the same problem. Well, I'll try again later.

This is a very cool idea! It's a shame I have all my music files at home (folks' place) and I'm at my bf's most of the time. I've been listening to jazz a lot lately, the perfect music when you're stressed about things. I'll give you my favourite Nina Simone song (though Mood Indigo and Love Me Or Leave Me are close seconds), and something from the Genius Loves Company album by Ray Charles and many others, in this case Fever with Natalie Cole. Enjoy. Nina: s50.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=34YXNOD9ZCZC70SI2L5ES5518VRay: s50.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0WFIPROORXS093E0NCDR34DRBI

Yes, its a from a bootleg of Big Sugar's 2nd or 3rd last show ever. The guitar player (Gordie Johnson) definitely has his own style and it shows on that track. If you like the guitar work there check out his new band Grady. There are some tracks on www.shadygrady.net that I'm sure you will like.
