Check out Wolfmother indeed they're really rocking. I'd even say some of the vocals on songs later in the album sound a bit like Jack White.

It's funny that the names Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Jack White were brought up.
Their full-page ad on the back cover of this month's Exclaim! magazine asks, 'What do you get when Mars Volta, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and the White Stripes all collide in space?' The answer is Wolfmother, apparently.
I hate it when record companies decide to name drop a bunch of 'it' and/or legendary band names to try to sell a band. Like in this case, I wonder why they couldn't just try to sell Wolfmother on the strengths of the quotes from Rolling Stone and NME, which were included in the ad. I look at those and they catch my attention and make me interested enough to give them a chance, but after seeing the headline basically throw out the message that they are everything that Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin were and more, I'm turned off because I don't expect them to live up to the hype.
That said, since some board members have recommended them, I decided to check out some songs and I like them. I might even consider purchasing their record when it is released (it drops on May 2nd in North America).
I'm kind of disappointed that I left Toronto last night. They're playing at the Phoenix with The Flaming Lips tonight. I'd have gone to see that show.

It's a great album. I picked it up when I was in OZ this past winter. They were one of the head liners of the Big Day Out festivals and also were Record and Band of the Year for the Aussie Rolling Stone Magazine. Their big single over there was Mind's eye. Pretty great for a 3 peice. Really worth a listen.

I don't do torrent sites. I will listen to whatever songs the band makes available via their official website and their myspace site and try to determine whether I ought to buy their record on based on those songs.
I llike three of the four songs on Wolfmother's myspace page. The only one I don't care much for is Mind's Eye. The other songs are much better.

I heard 'Woman' on the radio today and it's really good...like...really good. And right now I'm listening to another great song called 'Colossal.' Definite Zep/Rush influence. I'm sold. Nice suggestion rockstar!

Woah, I might have to check that show out! 10 days after Danko Jones plays the same venue.
I've been listening to the album for almost a week now and it's great. This band is much more than just the sum of their influences - they have really good songs.

There was an Illuminati and Wolfmother show a little while back that I'm kicking myself for not going to.

Wolfmother is the most dominant wolf in the pack. The rest of the current generation of wolves - Wolf Parade, AIDS Wolf and Wolf Eyes - pale in comparison.

I hadn't heard of Guitar Wolf until just now. I must say that the number of bands named after wolves is becoming a bit too much.
