Sounds like a retard wrote that review. Anybody who don't like the genre would either like DJ, but that is like a death metal journalist saying he thinks the new Belle & Sebastian album sucks donkey dick. The dude should keep to his Nickelback... And learn to spell.

that is like a death metal journalist saying he thinks the new Belle & Sebastian album sucks donkey dick. I'm a rap fiend/punk rocker who thinks Belle & Sebastian makes wussy music. So why did I go and see them in concert last year? Because they make really really good wussy music. It's too bad this Ib Rasheed guy couldn't look past his genres of choice and recognize that these Danko Jones fellas are pretty good at what they do. I mean shit, he admitted he took his first impression of the band from the photo on the back of WSB! I'm not saying nobody should review a seven year old band if they've never heard of them, but at least do a little research! Or just stick to Belle & Sebastian or Massive Attack or Radiohead - all great artists - and sound like an idiot trying to review a great hard rock band.

Thats a pretty good review Washi! Why don't you sign up, so we can have another rocking member? It sounds good when the journalist thinks DJ is moving up on his "best live acts ever" list. For me, he is already up there! ;D

Yeah, his only real criticism is that the show didn't last long enough. I pretty much feel that way after every Danko show. I guess we'll have to forgive them for that. This two-month European tour they're on is an insane schedule.
Thanks for the link, washi. Check it out, peeps, it's got a review of We Sweat Blood as well as a review of the Nov. 7 gig in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Is The Cross too violent?
That's what this reviewer suggests. Here's a short one taken from The Cambridge Times. Cambridge Ontario, that is, about an hours drive from me (and about 15 minutes from GBV).
Cambridge Times
DANKO JONES We Sweat Blood (Danko Jones Records/Universal): Danko Jones is the guy your mama wouldn’t want you to bring home – or even listen to. But for pure rock and roll anger, this guy’s beyond managing. The explosion of raw, gut energy comes alive song after song. Already a hit in Europe, Canada is slowly picking up the Danko Jones fever. Sure, he’s not for everyone. But even for people who don’t like their rock dirty and dangerous, it’s hard to ignore his bleeding chords of fire. Lyrics and themes are pretty basic here, thinking of sex, pursuing sex and dealing with the repercussions of sex. Jones has a bassy, growl of a voice which goes over the top occasionally (The Cross is way too violent), but...dats da Danko.

This incredible review is taken from an oddly named website called 'thisisnottv'. I loved it so much I had to post it. In addition to being the most glowing review of WSB that I've read, it's just plain well-written. This dude really captures how I (and most of you) feel about this record and this band.
There is a lot more to creating truly great rock music than just pulling the right moves out of the bag. Despite what some band's will make out it's actually pretty easy to pull off the right combination of chords and melody to cause an effect, the rules of rock being pretty straightforward if 'play the game' is as much as you want to do. Your Limpbizbit's and Linkin Park's of this world could play their asses off for decades without capturing an ounce of what really counts in the grand scheme of rock and roll. What truly matters is drive, guts and intention, and if you don't really mean it with every fibre of your being then however much you polish and buff your musical product it will always stop a long way short of kissing the sky. Danko Jones, however, are totally mainlined to the true source of rock and roll and by the time you reach the chorus of opener "Forget My Name" you'll be utterly convinced that they are the absolute real deal. You may have been getting by thinking that The White Stripes and Electric Six, or whoever, had what it takes but Danko Jones will leave you feeling dirty and stupid for even considering that anyone else could have been 'the one'. They are the real thing and the fact that they aren't tearing a hellish path across every chart on the planet is one of life's great ridiculous injustices, though surely one that will be rectified very soon. "We Sweat Blood", the three piece's third album, grips a fistful of the early garage dirt displayed on their debut collection "I'm Alive And On Fire" and mush's it into the lascivious chest beating rock of their last "Born A Lion" album to a devastating effect. "Dance" and the awesome "Strut" both reverberate with the buoyancy of a rapidly blossoming penis, "Wait a Minute" kicks ass with a breathless fury and "I Want You" serves up the kind of sleazy skuzz that would have made The Hives your actual "New Favourite Band" had they had the balls to really carry it off. God, and thats before you even get to the ferocity of "The Cross", "Love Travel" and "We Sweat Blood". Throughout, as always, Danko Jones himself is a raw throated amalgam of James Brown, Phil Lynott and Henry Rollins, externalising his soul with the blistering abandon that only someone getting his strength from a deeper, godlier source can muster. The band are tapping into something truly special, galvanised by a power beyond general comprehension, and if you think I'm overreacting then you obviously haven't heard them before. If you get to see them live then, my lord, it will be all you can do not to throw yourself to your knees and give praise. Danko Jones are 100%, honest to god, without a doubt the best rock 'n' roll band on the planet, bar none, and "We Sweat Blood" is by default the best album this year by a seriously long chalk. Don't even try to fight it, you'll worship them by the end of the year. All I can say is that you'd best get on your knees now before the stampede. Adam Farrer

Wow, thats a dude who know how to write a good review! As you said Tidy, the most positive review I have ever read about the Kid and his crew. And the best part is that its all true!!! Quite funny on some parts to! ;D "Dance" and the awesome "Strut" both reverberate with the buoyancy of a rapidly blossoming penis, "Wait a Minute" kicks ass with a breathless fury and "I Want You" serves up the kind of sleazy skuzz that would have made The Hives your actual "New Favourite Band" had they had the balls to really carry it off. God, and thats before you even get to the ferocity of "The Cross", "Love Travel" and "We Sweat Blood". Great job finding it!

Well this review isn't nearly as good, but it is another postive reveiw. It's from a site called music-critic.ca. I like his new nick-name for Danko; the Mocha Moses. Very odd.
Danko Jones - We Sweat Blood 8.2/10 Release Date: September 30th/03 Review Date: November 12th/03 Reviewer: c.t.ner RATING GUIDE 10.0: Momentous; life-changing album 9.5-9.9: Thought-provoking, original work; transcends music 9.0-9.4: Incredible 8.5-8.9: Truly great album; definitely check it out 8.0-8.4: Stands out from the crowd 7.0-7.9: Above average; fans will thoroughly enjoy 6.0-6.9: Not without some value, but not strong 5.0-5.9: Mediocre 4.0-4.9: Well below average; lacks value 3.0-3.9: Highlights are few and far between 2.0-3.0: Extremely weak 1.0-2.0: Not worth a download 0-0.9: Absolutely horrible; avoid at all costs The reverend Danko Jones has returned with yet another sermon and it’s called We Sweat Blood. While Born a Lion was a lesson in which Danko proclaims, “Woman is a Demon Cat.”, we Sweat Blood is a decree in which the Carmel Kid unleashes his frustration from being under appreciated. The Brown Panther has been takin’ over the world with his blend of Balls-out/Blues-Rawk, now he’s back to rub his success in your face with that signature arrogance. We Sweat Blood is Danko’s second major label release. This edition has a more aggressive edge than 2002’s Born a Lion. Fans drawn to the Mango Kid’s pretentious attitude will love We Sweat Blood. Every song is chalk full of the Danko’s cock-ass preaching. But unlike Born a Lion, which was centered on the complications of women, We Sweat Blood has an underlying theme of under appreciation. Coming off unbridled success in Europe, a number of songs are about revenge and retribution, with songs like “Living in the City”, “Wait a Minute”, “Home to Hell”, “We Sweat Blood”, and the jaw dropping “The Cross” oozing vengeance. On Home to Hell the Mango kid proclaims; “When I Hold a Grudge/I hold a Grudge for Life/When you crossed me/you were dead in my eyes!” While these songs address the Carmel Kid’s frustration, he still has time for what makes him great; unadulterated lust. “Dance” and “I Want You” are two pure old school Danko tracks. If those songs don’t prove the reverend’s still got it, just look at the lyrics of “Love Travels.” “Now honey it’s about time you see the light/Step in from the cold I’ll make your eyeballs roll to the back of your head tonight”.
Musically Jones has shifted towards a darker, less bluesy sound while still backed by some excellent talent. J.D. can still match Jones ‘stopgap’ guitar, chord for chord. While Damon is still the trashing monster he has always been on the drums. (Side note: His insert photos in the liners might be an indication he’s been hanging out with Nick Nolte too much). Most of the songs on We Sweat Blood will enhance the most electrifying live show in North America. “Dance”. “I Want You”, and “Home to Hell” will snuggle in perfectly to the set-list. It’ll be interesting to see how "The Cross" will transition over to the live show, being nothing short of an all out sonic assault. Blaring guitar, thrashing drums, thumping bass, distorted screaming and a raging chorus of “NAIL YOU TO THE CROSS!” This combination equals the rawest song Danko has ever released.
Keeping up with Born a Lion was no small task, but with We Sweat Blood the Mocha Moses proves there is no stopping him. The tracks are now darker and harder, but the sound is distinctively the Carmel Kid. He’s still planning to sleep with your sister, but this time he’s also gonna shit-kick you. Being under appreciated can sure piss a guy off. My advice to you would be to lock your siblings up, go see him live and pick up We Sweat Blood. Hopefully Danko will forgive you.

Fyi, I don't like reviews. Its taste of matter again, I think reviews are not for ordinary consumers, but for professional music folk. But again, that's MY opinion.
