since we have this forum, i'd like to ask your guys opinion about Outkast, dunno if they are real hiphop, but i think they deserve lots of credit for their worl. Good instrumetal vocal hiphop, realy cool
If Outkast aren't real hip-hop then fuck real! I really like them, Danko, and I agree they deserve LOTS of credit for their work.
Outkast have long been respected as one of hip-hops crown jewels. They've made a career of producing music that's distinctive and unique but not at the expense of accessibility. Their latest record, the double solo CD called Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, is on pace to become their best-selling record to date (if it's not there already), boosted by the hottest song in the world at the moment 'Hey Ya'.
Their future as a duo remains in question, but their hip-hop legacy does not. To the uninitiated, all five of their records are more than worth your while - so I guess their latest is as good a place as any to start.
Their new record is a double solo CD which means one guy Big Boi does the first disc Speakerboxxx and the other guy Andre 3000 does the second disc The Love Below, but it is an Outkast double disc so you can't buy them separately.
Each guy appears on the other guys disc for a track or two. Big Boi raps on his side and Andre sings (!) on his.
They claim they're not breaking up or even having "creative differences" , but nonetheless the door has been left open a crack for future solo records if they decide to go that route.
To sum up: Outkast still together (sort of). At least for now.
You gotta wonder though, in heeyaa the phrase "Nothing lasts forever" comes up. I agree Outkast are very unique...very innovative and deserve as much kudos as they can get. To me..when it comes to creativity and originality..u have Busta...Missy & Outkast. Their beats...their vids...style all have come before their time. They have all been there when it's come time to test the waters on beats and flo in mainstream media. I think NERD/Neptunes are another one to watch out for in that scope.
