I just found out that Outkast's new album, Idlewild, will be released next week (Aug. 22). I guess it's been held back since March to coincide with the theatrical release of a movie of the same name, starring Big Boi and André 3000, which will be released on August 25th. I'm excited about having a new Outkast album and I've seen a trailer for the movie on the band's website and it looks like it has the potential to be a good film, although I won't go to the theatre to watch it just because they're in it.

Yeah the whole thing sounds hella ambitious. I'm curious to hear what they sound like these days even though Andre ain't really fuckin with rap any more. The last double record wasn't up to their ridiculously high standards, but it was still good.

I didnt really feel the double album, but I liked the concept. 2 dics at one time was a bit ambitious. But speaking of new albums...I'm diggin bustas right now. And its unusual because most the time I only like a couple songs here and there. But I like most of this album.

I love Outkast for always trying something different, but for some reason I'm feeling more than a little anemic about the new record - and movie. Maybe it's just because the last double CD was their weakest record. It was still good though. The new Busta record is really good. He took his time with it and having Dre to work with probably helps just a little. The new Roots record is amazing!
