let's start from the beginning:
I got up that day at 6 a.m. & went to university. Got back late afternoon, expecting a friend to pick me up to get to Berlin. He showed up about half an hour late. No problem yet. Anyway, after we packed all our stuff in the car and wanted to start the engine...
nothing happened. Shit.
We gave up after the 6th try. We needed another car. Mine would have fallen to pieces as soon as we hit the autobahn, so our last chance were our parents. We finally got my fathers car, which meant I had to drive. Shit, no beer for me then.
Already being a little behind the time, we put danko in the cars stereo [see
here] and were hasting towards berlin with about 200km/h.
When we finally hit the city border, it was searching time. We needed another hour to actually find the Postbahnhof.
So far so boring.
The postbahnhof itself was much more spacious than I expected. I had tickets for a qotsa-show there scheduled february 2005 (which was cancelled eventually though) and was told that it's a rather small venue, but compared to the venues I've seen danko play before it's quite big.
When we entered the concert hall, there were only a handful of people so we made our way to the first row.
15 minutes and a whole lot of fans later "quit your dayjob" entered the stage. By the time, I didn't even know they were on the tour aswell. I've seen them with Danko before, and there were as crazy as ever. A good start. Anyway, I feared that QYD might have replaced Brant Bjork, but when I saw this grinning guy with that HUGE woolen hat and the long black hair putting up the equipment I knew this would be one hell of an evening. During the set, Brant said that one of the bandmembers woman just had a baby a few hours ago, so I guess we were quite lucky they played nonetheless.
Having seen BB & his Bros live, all I can say is:
brant bjork is just...just...incredibly cool. like...supercool. imagine the coolest person ever: brant bjork is twice as cool. I'm serious.
During the equipment break the DJ (sound-dude) played a few entombed songs, which just got me fired up even more.
Another 15 minutes later Danko, JC and Dan finally hit the stage. Everyone in the crowd and on stage was immediately soaked in sweat, and I couldn't help but grin all the time. Everyone had a great time.
After the show I even met the lovely milkei. Unfortunately, I felt pretty fucked and still had to drive home 250km(~160miles) , so there was only time for a very short chat. I sure hope to correct that some time later.
On the ride home, sleep was my enemy indeed and I was glad I could surrender when I eventually sunk in my bed 4 a.m.
