who else went? what a great show - as always! Danko had me laughing my ass off when he was poking fun at the mainstream bands' styles that you hear on the radio all the time.
everyone was chanting "Danko! Danko!" and he said that was his favourite song. ;D

For me that was the best Danko show I ever saw. Albeit, I have yet to witness, the enormous power of a European festival crowd. The People at the show were into it pretty hard.
The show had been sold out for weeks. It was pretty intense. The crowd was really getting off on chanting Danko. A Danko army, full of drunken hooligans and bouncing chicks.
My favourite part was when Danko. Admitted they were a Satanic rock band. He got down to the truth behind the devil horn salute. And when describing Jesus being nailed to the cross, he offered the audience their own substitution for someone they thought was a fucking asshole.
I captured the entire show on video and got some pretty cool stuff.

maybe Winnipeg has the most hardcore DJ fans in the world....it was a Monday night and everyone was out there all in "rock out with your cock out" or "jam out with your clam out" style. we were rowdy. i wonder how many were hungover or couldn't talk at work the next morning.....i'm so glad i work nights - i didn't get home til 6am and still got 7 hours of sleep before work.

I've been filming here and there over this little trip out to Western Canada. You'll see some footage soon probably after we get back next week I'll post a couple of things. In lieu of the usual photo blogs I'm using a video camera more these days.

What is it about Winnipeg that makes it the best rock town in Canada? I mean, why there?
I've been there and I disliked it in almost every other respect. But I'm so envious of the rock crowds there.

LOL! Yeah, this city likes their rock! The crowd was super good. When the whole place started chanting "DAN-KO! DAN-KO! DAN-KO!" Danko looked like he was going to flip out! That was pretty cool - and I've never seen that happen before. I think this was show number 10 for me and it was one of the best. I'd have to say that the only show that rivaled this one was the joint tour they did with Andrew WK a few years ago. Dan is really starting to gel with the band and you can tell that all three of them are having a great time. The mood is lighter and Danko has some hilarious in between song chatter. Even funnier are the looks of bewilderment on JC's face at some of the things Danko says. I've got a buttload of pictures from this show and the Regina one that I've got to get online soon. I'm hoping I have time on Monday to post them. Danyadanger - I've even got a pic of you with your homemade shirt (very cool) that'll be in that batch as well. parkdale - it was cool meeting you earlier on that night. Hope we see some of that video soon! The chanting crowd needs to be on a DVD.

wow. Danko's eye is still a bit red from the surgery. hope it's healed well. i've had corneal abrasions before and they sure aren't pleasant, so i can't imagine how surgery would be.

I put together some footage, I shot, from our day spent in Winnipeg Oct 2 2006. I synced some audio from the cd over some of the live footage as my camera didn't capture the greatest sound. www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5YXeZst52Q
