This is the CMW showcase - there are eight bands on the bill that night. The Danko page says a stage time of 11pm. I'm thinking about road tripping from Florida with a couple of buds to see this show. Will this be an abbreviated set with so many bands playing that night? Does the Horseshoe have multiple stages to siphon off some of the acts?
Anybody know what kind of music these other bands on the bill play? Hard rock hopefully?
Age of Daze/Hail the Villain/Hey Rosetta/DANKO JONES/Inward Eye/ Waking Eyes/Arkells/Hollerado
Hate to be a pain on all of this with the questions....it just looks like this may be the only chance to see the band play North America for awhile....and I've never been to Toronto so I know zero about this club.

Danko's set should be about an hour long. There are 7 acts on the bill according to the CMW schedule - Danko hits the stage at midnight. cmw.net/cmw2008/festival_schedule.asp (scroll down to the Horseshoe)

Inward Eye are a local band from here in Winnipeg. 3 young brothers who signed with Motown Records a while back. saw them open for Billy Talent in '04 and they were impressive.

I saw Hollerado at one of the NXNE shows in Toronto. They weren't bad, they put on a fun show - but they aren't hard rock. All of the acts on the bill have myspace pages, so if you want to hear some of the music before you head to the 'Shoe, I'd do it there.
Cheers!

Thanks everyone - I just picked up two tickets for the night online. One last question...I'm flying in around 4pm the day of the gig and have to go to one of the Ticketmaster outlets in town to get the tickets. From my options below, can anyone tell me which location is closest to the gig site - Horseshoe Tavern? (I feel really unhip going tourist on everyone by asking these questions)

Can you not get the tickets mailed to you? If you're taking subway/bus/whatever into Union Station from the airport then the Hummingbird Centre and the Rogers Centre are close.

They're not mailing them anymore! My friend just tried to get some for the show on Friday...
Rogers Centre outlet is closest to the venue, but as BrownBomber said, Rogers Centre and Hummingbird are close to Union if that's how you're coming.

spun, I've generally had good luck of grabbing extra tickets off people before the show. Last show at the Horseshoe I managed to get 4 tickets in like 15 minutes.

There was a pretty big turnout despite the crazy storm and I was able to get in at the door which surprised me.
The show was pretty good although I didn't really like the sound. However it was CMW and a packed bill so I guess its hard getting the sound perfect for every band considering the limited time between sets. A big highlight was Sugar High, that song really kicks ass live and should never be removed from the set list. The new songs sound really good although in Kind Of Magazines, Danko played the second guitar part/overdub and I didn't quite like it. I think it would have sounded better if he just played the riff, but that's just my 2 cents. They also cut off Mountain a bit and there was a bit of a Zeppelin teaser at the end if I'm not mistaken. Overall it was a great show. Danko went on a rant about getting signed to Chi Chi's Mexican Restaurant which was pretty hilarious.

The show was MAYHEM. I was right up front hanging on to two monitors to try to keep the crowd from crushing me. Was it hot? Yes. Did I get a whole beer spilled all over the back of me? Yes. Did Danko rock the shit out of the 'Shoe? Hell YES! I was a little surprised they played so many new songs given the album hasn't dropped in Canada yet (and I'm sure not everyone preordered it from Sweden like I did ), but it was an amazing show. I actually think the sound at this gig was WAY better than the sound at the show in December. Danko was in fine form talking about a review he had read about CMW, and that the only bands worth signing were synth duo bands...and of course, they could break out a little synth if the crowd wanted it! LOL and JC was total hotness (as usual) playing the hell out every song. Chart attack has a few pics from the show and backstage that they've added to my Danko group on flickr: flickr.com/groups/dankojones/

FYI...someone posted a video on the facebook group of Invisible from the show. The sound is actually pretty good...better than I remembered it. I must have been standing in a bad spot.

Video??? Which group?? Details! I considered taking video, but considering how crazy it got up front, it probably would have been pretty blurry anyway!

The Facebook group is called Danko Jones Rocks or something like that and you'll find the video in there. Its only a minute clip or so.
