Just read on the badtasterecords site that there will also be a show of motorhead/danko in Amsterdam, but no confirmation on the DankoJones.com. DJ and Motorhead will play in Brussels the day after, and they're travelling to Holland on Sunday 23rd I think, because the last UK show in London is on Saterday 22nd. No room for another Dutch gig I think..

I don't think I'll be able to make the Brighton show after all Beers , I'm in a wheelchair and on heavy painkillers so I'd have to change plans and spend extra for disability access. I'm okay for Cardiff...I live fairly central, close to Cathays where the uni Great Hall is, and various friends will be around too ;D. London should be okay...I just need to book a disabled place on the coach, get a wheelchair friendly hotel and take big taxi's instead of going by tube.

okay, I tried going out alone yesterday, just down the road to the shop... got strong arms so I managed the slopes, but no way could I get the small front wheels over even the smallest kerb. People can be really kind... three women and an older guy saw me struggle at various points and helped me over the kerb. I'm nervous about the Cardiff gig now...taxi there,okay..but how will I get around once there? What if the staff don't want someone with a wheelchair in there because of 'health and safety'? Will I actually be able to go to the gig itself? Feel so frustrated right now.

hmmmm... no clue how it'd work over there, but here, if the gig is big enough, you can usually call ahead and make arangements for helpers, or more access or something. I'm sure if you called ahead to the arena or where ever the show is, they'll be happy to set ya up with someone... (also, I totally found people in Wales, WAY more helpful than here, so I'm guessing you'll be fine! also, Completely echo the sediments of others: get well soon, and don't go trying to get over TOO many curbs!

Cheers JN! It's okay now...I phoned the students union and spoke to a rep who told me there's now disabled facilities in place (about time : ...so YES! I can go! ;D I'd been trawling the net for info 'cos there was none on Cardiff Universities various sites regarding access in the student union building. Some review sites said 'no disabled access' so I got disillusioned. I've been to hundreds of gigs and rock/indie nights there over the last 23 yrs or so. It's huge...2 concert venues (Great Hall and Solus,) clubs, bars, shopping mall, study centres etc ...several storeys with lots and lots of stairs. The main entrance is also several flights of steps straddling railway lines. Like a dalek, I'm not a huge fan of stairs right now . Lol at the Great Hall being thought of as arena, no, the name might make it sound big but it's about the same size as the Paradiso in Amsterdam (minus balcony.) Surprisingly, Motorhead (when headlining) don't really do the short arena tours that other classic rock bands such as Whitesnake do over here. They seem to prefer to play loads more dates, in more intimate concert halls ( but charge arena prices for tickets .) It's a shame most of my closer friends can't afford to go. Everyone's just spent all their cash on AC/DC , Slayer or Hard Rock Hell festival tickets. And some of them just aren't into Motorhead enough to justify spending £25-£30 on a ticket just to see Danko on my rec'. I've had a lot of maybe's but no promises. There will be friends hanging out as usual at rock-bar Fuel though, where the afterparty's being held .

I think that would be so much better to see a lot of these "big name" bands... Personally I think it'd be AMAZING to see AC/DC in a smaller venue like that. If they ever came to Edmonton, they'd probably be stuck playing in our stadium (seats about 60,000 for football games, probably more for concerts) or in the hockey arena (seats about 17000 for hockey, but I've heard them stuff 25 000 for concerts, like when Nickelback "came home" for the first time). You just can't really get a nice intimate concert experience when there are that many people there... We don't really have the facilities on our universities for concerts or festivals, which is too bad. its just one more reason why I love DJ so much... they can rock out the small venues just as hard as the ones that seat tens of thousands. I can understand the cost though... DJ played a little club by my house last time here, and tickets were only $20 each (about 10 pounds) which was totally worth it.

Thanks Beers, offer accepted! There's a lot of 'red tape' involved in getting the registration thing; a lengthy process of applying for mobility grants, assessments, doctors letters etc. I'm seeing my occupational therapist next week; she'll help me with the mass of forms I'm trying to fill in. My Sis had to wait until the disk in her spine had worn away and she was getting regular epidural injections, before she was granted a disabled buspass. I'll get you a pint at Hammy, Beers...I'll have a single rum 'n large coke to go with the tramadol!

A few months ago, two djs I know told me they'd got guest list passes from Motorhead show for the Cardiff show, and they couldn't resist rubbing it in, the c##ts, oops...I mean the jammy gits. They get to see Danko for free; plus they'll be hanging out with the fire-eating burlesque striptease girls backstage, lucky sods. I'm trying not to feel envious, 'cos they're nice guys and I hope they have fun. One of them likes to wind me up though, so I'm sure he'll be taking the piss for months afterwards. Especially after he sees me on the wheelchair platform while he's in the VIP zone. He'd better start playing some Danko for me soon, or I'm gonna kick off!* *Cardiffian for 'have strong words with someone' etc.
