Ah yes, jane, this thread had to happen.
I don't think Sleep Is The Enemy will get many votes, because it's too new, and people don't have enough perspective on it, but I voted for it. It narrowly edges We Sweat Blood for me.

Lol I had to come vote aaof. It was behind in the polls. I have yet to become sick of this album to this day...no matter how many times I listen to it. And whenever they play songs from it at shows...i lose my mind. It always reminds me of my first show. Did we have these polls b4 here...or was it on the other board?

I hate these polls And that's because it makes me think about the question all day and still don't know the answer at the end of the day

My vote goes to Born a Lion. I chose it because I prefer it to We Sweat Blood. I couldn't consider Sleep is the Enemy because, as Tidy so astutely pointed out, I cannot properly put it into perspective because of how new it still is. And I can't vote for I'm Alive and on Fire because it isn't a proper album. It is a compilation of Danko's early material, none of which was recorded in sessions with the intent of using the material to produce a debut album. I don't consider compilations a valid option in questions about best albums. In my opinion, a vote for I'm Alive and on Fire is no different than voting for a greatest hits album, which is just so wrong.

Simple, "We Sweat Blood" it rocks from start to finish and I never skip a track when listening to it.
I'm nowhere near as keen on the new album it has some good moments but it's not as much of a rockfest as We Sweat Blood. I just don't like When Will I See You Again plus Natural Tan & Don't Fall In Love just haven't grabbed me but She's Drugs and Invisible are ace though.

It has more songs than "my love is bold" which I think could be more considered as a comp disc. And also, they didn't release another album after Aaof with the same songs, so it must be considered..."the album" for those songs. Either way if there was a greatest hits album...i'm sure we'd all vote for it because then we wouldnt have to choose! Comp disc...album...why split hairs when its such a good cd/record? All the songs on there are like 2 mins long each..so we could say they're not even full songs...more like intros . ME still likey. It good...I vote #1!

I'm gonna have to go with Born a Lion. Sleep is the Enemy is too new for me at this point and I like the slightly bluesy feel of Born a Lion. TOUGH choice though.

I'm Alive And On Fire is a great, great record. Sure it's sort of pieced together, but I still consider it a Danko Jones album. Heck, I like it better than Born A Lion!
I'm Alive And On Fire is to Danko Jones as Incesticide was to Nirvana - something of a patchwork and not a true studio album but some (like me) would still call Incesticide their favourite.
And I don't really condsider it the eqivalent of a greatest hits package. I hate greatest hits albums. They're boooring. If our boys put out a greatest hits record, I'd buy it only because it's Danko Jones, not because I really want it.
Also, I hope they never do a live album, because they suck too. If I want to hear a band play live, I'll buy a ticket or a DVD.
A b-sides and rarities comp would be cool though...

You don't have to agree with my methodology. I'm quite fine with that. It is just that I don't think of a collection of songs as an album unless they were the result of one or more recording sessions which intended to produce a collection of songs selected from those sessions only. I don't know if that makes sense to you, but I don't think I can put into words my concept of what constitutes an album any better than I have here. All I know is that, besides what I happen to think, I'm Alive and On Fire was billed as a collection of songs from 1996 to 1999 and that, for all intents and purposes, Born a Lion was Danko Jones first true full-length album.
My intention was not to get others to think as I do by mentioning that I don't consider I'm Alive and On Fire to be an album. I just wanted to explain why I didn't choose it. I think it is a great collection of songs culled from two separate EPs and other unreleased recordings and it is the stuff that got me hooked on Danko Jones. Well, I had My Love is Bold first and I might've even purchased the self-titled EP before it came out, but together they formed the nucleus of what made me a Danko Jones fan. But, to me, it's not an album, so I can't call it my favourite album.

Let's just take this outside bitch. I really got what you were saying to begin with slade. I was just trying to shoot things from a different angle. Either way...everybody, just like what u like...worry about the explanation later.

No, everybody should like exactly what I like and think exactly like I think. I need validation and approval.

Yes dear. But I already agreee. Do u remember the discussion about BAL when it came out? Cuz I do. And I remember saying I loved the albums like parents love children and couldnt pick one. But now, I pick the child with the biggest attitude problem. Slap on those thigh high boots, red lips....be alive and on fire and just rock shit hot.

I finally know what my favourite album is. I couldn't decide so short after the release of SITE, but yesterday I played all the albums and I think Born a Lion is definitely the best one!

Had to go with Born a lion, one of my all time favorite albums along with classics such as Kiss`s Destroyer, Queensryche`s Operation Mindcrime and so on. I hope, in a few years, Danko will play the entire album at gigs, or at least Caramel city! I`d love to rock out to that one!
