seen them 4 times so far...the last 3 times (wireless fesival and London and Brighton on the eastpack tour) they didn't get much time to play.the first time i got to see them (in Manchester, spring '06) they headlined; it was a full set... about an hour? to be honest, that was an immense show ;D,and i was so overwhelmed i completely lost track of time. when they finished i was still hungering for more (typical woman huh? ;)they gave it all they got and i'm saying'don't stop!' ) they could have played all night..i didn't want them to get off stage! it's up to us to scream loud enough at the next London gig..we just might get another encore!

you're right Beercellar, it was Tokyo Dragons and Voicst. i remember 'cos i should've been at that gig in the Garage myself.i couldn't leave from Cardiff 'til late in the afternoon, then it was like the film 'trains, planes and automobiles'...train cancellations, the next one late running, then when finally got a train it went on a massive detour through Bath spa etc . i got into London really late and jumped in a taxi 'cos i didn't know how to get to Islington. the driver was taking all these back roads with speedbumps and 45 mins or so later i started to notice we were passing the same buildings.i thought 'this guys taking advantage of the fact i'm not a londoner and he's driving around in circles to get more fare' . i made a pointed remark about needing to get there quickly and when he finally arrived he charged me over £20! of course i arrived at the venue just as the guys had left, really disappointed. but i'd been waiting 2 years to see them and i was determined, so i got to a hotel and jumped on an early train to Manchester the next morning. needless to say, i was pumped with adrenaline at that Manchester show..i was actually getting to see them at last! ;D

I've been at that gogol bordello-show in berlin. danko headlined there. I think they played a full set, but so did gogol bordello (which put on a great show), so I don't really see why danko only played half an hour at where you went. even the festival-shows I've been to were longer than that.
I think I've seen the band 6 times so far, every headlined show I remember was about 90min. I wouldn't worry about the length of the gig. All I experienced is that a Danko Jones show always feels much shorter than any other.

yeah, 90 mins sounds about right. but you don't want it to end, so it may seem shorter.

Yeah, headlining sets are usually an hour and a half. I don't know if I could take much more after that...ha, who am I kidding I'd love it if they played 2 hours.

D'shavingrash is right...i was at that same Eastpack tour London gig myself. they played a short set on the eastpack tour because Gogol Bordello and Bedouin Soundclash were headlining on the UK leg of that tour and each got really long sets...you've got to take into account that those bands are big in the UK whereas Danko Jones just have a very small fanbase here. so of course the tour organisers are going to switch the bill around when they're in mainland european countries where Danko is more popular. Disco Ensemble were the opening band in the UK and Danko on second. got to feel sorry for Disco Ensemble 'cos they were on as the doors opened so there was hardly any audience for them. by the time i got inside i only managed to see the last 2 songs of their set (they were really good though!) the place was only 3/4 full when Danko took to the stage..but there was an incredible moshpit!

the gig that Beercellar saw in the Garage, London UK was part of the spring '06 tour where they headlined, playing smaller venues. that one should've been my first Danko gig but as i didn't get to London in time ... i went up to Manchester the next day and saw them there instead ;D! they played a proper full set on that tour. that's the best way to see Danko in the UK....headlining in small sweaty venues, pressed up against the stage ;D, with no barriers, surrounded by a bunch of hardcore fans and some curious newbies who've heard about them through their friends. the support slots in bigger venues are fun too, even if they are over a little too quickly...just to see the looks on the faces of the majority of the audience. those people haven't even heard of Danko Jones and just stand there with their jaws open as the first few front rows of fans are going mad for the band. sometimes i look around to see if the back rows are getting into it, and i can see lines of aghast faces, mouths wide open! by the end of the set though, a good proportion of these onlookers have joined the moshpit, started to shake their bootys, or are at least nodding their heads while holding their pints!

so i take it anyone from the uk (aka diehard danko joners) will see them at hoxton.... and the hoxton bar & grill is pretty small-ish...its alot wider than the garage.....
i expect all danko fans to make the journey to london to see them and hang off the rafters...
at first i thought t was an odd venue for danko to play at...as its not a stricly a hard rock crowd... but i've been there before and met the most amazing looking womanthere ...and its got all the essence of danko with regards to women...
ok i'm not sure where i'm going with this....but ultimatley danko gives me some kind of rock & roll sexual drive and i use it when i need to...very tenious link..sorry
i love women i love weed i love danko so shoot me.... wahhh

had no idea where Hoxton was...Beercellar told me to find Old Street station, so i looked on a map and saw that it's in Shoreditch. isn't that currently considered the ultra trendy, hipster part of London? it's going to be crawling with models, luvvies and media types...we're gonna show them how to rock! ;D

so its gonna be full of lovies, o dear, best get more beer down then so they stay away, ill soon the tone off the place LOL, yeh the garage was abark gingy place, kept walking into tables, then found the bar LOL, fasntastic sound in there tho, so if d,shave is right , its a small but longe club, sound like the 100 club down oxford street, been there a few times, well hot in the summer, saw metallica back there in august 87, under the name off damage inc, only 300 people in there. hope danko does the festival run this year, then he ll be back in uk again, cant travel to far, new arrival. ;D

hoxton gets this press about being ultra trendy....but its not as bad as people makes out... i come from the north and i think the catalogue boys of yorkshire look far more ridculous than the so called trendies in shoreditch... there's far more prentiouness in smaller towns in the uk who think they're all that... whereas i think people who make an effort at hoxton/soredict/old street just get on with it and not trouble anyone with it... its actually a great night out...one of the few places in london that has that bar/pub crawl feel and everything is close to each other and there's loads of hidden bars, warehouses parties etc.... and it has all walks of people milling around, the hard core drum bassers, a small amount suits from teh city just down the road, art students, media types (whatever that means....), tourists, nu-ravers, the 1950's crowd, old todgers, proper cockneys (probably mockneys) and the usual drug dealers on the streets etc.... and lesast not forgetting the so called trendy people...but its a damn sight better being surrounded by then rather than townies who dont appricate a gig...at least they wont have a go at you for dressing the way rock fans dress ...whereas if danko played in Bolton or Hull they'll probably get head butted by a posse of massive 15yr old lads but ultimalety we are there for one thing and one thing only - RAWK by Danko himself i actually think its a good venue..... i'm just not sure how many will fit in the back room...450 people moybe more or maybe less...i have no idea i seriously can't wait

Seen them 7 times so far and it's always over before you want it.
But then there's the merch stand, the familiar faces in the crowd...
Ok, REALLY looking forward to April now.
