Haha, looks like you guys turned this "other bands"(!) thread into a DJ thread. I love and listen many different kinds of music... from classical music to Dead Kennedys, Tricky, Julie London, weird folk music, chansons, flamenco... you got the idea... ;D Anyway, some rock&pop bands and artists important to me: Nirvana Polly Jean Harvey Kate Bush Placebo [their first two albums are BRILLIANT...] The White Stripes Jimi Hendrix Neil Young, Kent, Pearl Jam, Muse, Nine [this is the same Nine that's on Sac's list, they're Swedish hardcore-rock-metal (whatever) band and they are good - check them out!... ] (I got free stickers and badges) My favourite Finnish band is Sunride. (I'm gonna ask for free stickers )

My condolences. I'm sorry, it's just that I saw them open for Danko Jones a few years ago and I thought they were boring with a capital B.
Other than Danko I am a regular listener of:
The Rolling Stones Sloan The Inbreds Wide Mouth Mason Staggered Crossing Smashing Pumpkins Tom Petty Keith Richards (I have all 3 solo albums!) The Watchmen Junkhouse Bruce Cockburn 54-40
and I'm sure there's a few I'm forgetting...

Heavy on the Canadian content! You and Grinch are true Canadians.
I'm not even going to try listing the artists I listen to. There's a ten thousand character limit to each post.

U got it, Tidyman! I never could get into American rock bands - to me they all sound too generic and lack originality. The only newer (last 10 years) USA bands that I've really liked are Smashing Pumpkins, Foo Fighters, Everclear, and Garbage (which is 1/4 Scottish).
Oh yeah, the other band I forgot is Sum 41. I didn't want to like them, but they seriously have some musical chops and I love their sense of humour.

powderd toast man, Sloan sounds very familiar..can you tell me something more about them?

Sloan is four distinct songwriting voices — guitarists Patrick Pentland and Jay Ferguson, bassist Chris Murphy and drummer Andrew Scott — that nonetheless form a cohesive collective. Long-time Toronto scenesters who will always call Halifax home. Muchmusic and rock-radio regulars who — via their own murderecords label — maintain strong ties to their indie roots. Money-city maniacs who have a soft spot for sweet sugar tunes. Music vets who, instead of coasting on their cred, continue to challenge themselves with each record. their official site is www.sloanmusic.com
