This is meant to be punk thread so why the fu*k have Blink 182 and Good Charlotte been mentioned. These 2 bags of shit are about as punk as the spice girls. How the fu*k can you even compare them to proper punk bands like the Dead Kennedys, it's a bloody insult. Proof of a good punk band is that they never get played on MTV, and seeing that members of Good Charlotte even have their own bloody program on the channel, well it just beggars belief. I don't know, next they'll be saying that Busted are a top death metal act. Ah well, rant over. No-ones mentioned Leatherface although they'd probably be classed as punk/hardcore but I reckon they're the best punk band to come out of England.

Sorry everyone, I know people were just taking the piss about Good Charlotte but I really do hate them. Any excuse for a good old rant!

oh come on boys. ain't it too easy to moan about blink 182? I don't like em, but hey, they never claimed to be "punk" or to be "underground" or anything like that, and they don't sing about anything like that either.
Do really think they threaten "your" little, elitist, punk-world?

Im with you there Natty. I think maybe bands like Offspring and the likes are more a "threat" to punk, not that I dislike them, but atleat they claim to be punk. I mean, how many dirtpunkers with mowhawk listen to Good Charlotte? Alost all of them, ehe? And I really like Millencollin, but they'r also not any "real" punkband. More like skatepunk...

Not a big fan of millencolin.. or not their newer material. Looney Tunes was a great album though.

Sorry everyone, I know people were just taking the piss about Good Charlotte but I really do hate them. Any excuse for a good old rant! No need to apologize, pug. My mention of Good Charlotte was a deliberate attempt to push buttons. Toppler responded with cool sarcasm - you responded with a good ole fashioned rant! I wanted to get overripe tomatoes thrown at me. Here's another punk prefix for you, milk - I personally don't like all those what I call "bubble-gum punk" bands. Bands like G.C., Simple Plan, Sum 41, Gob, Not By Choice, NoFX...too many to name. But at the same time I'm not a punk purist either. Certain bands I do like like Billy Talent and The Distillers are punk in sound only - they're not really anti-establishment or rebelious enough to be real punk bands - they embrace the mainstream. I guess as you get a little older like me, punk purism starts to seem a little silly. Danko Jones once claimed that they were never going to record any music and thank God they smartened up. I mean shit, even Iggy is doing Sum 41 songs these days!

Nice one Tidyman. I'm with you there. I'm not a punk purist either otherwise I wouldn't even be on this website. I'm just sick of all these american "bubble-gum punk" bands getting so much air time on radio and MTV (in UK anyway).

Can't speak for everyone, but bands on MTV, who cares? MTV are the pure anti-punk and kapitalism channel, and I really don't bother to wach it... Almost anything aired there is for comercial use only.

Fuse is better than MTV - they actually play music instead of those crappy Real World episodes.
