So, in a couple of weeks 2005 is gone but which albums were your favourites in 2005? I want to know your meanings of the best albums which were released in 2005.
1. Trivium - Ascendancy 2. Wednesday 13 - Transylvania 90210 (Songs of Death, Dying and the Dead) 3. Korn - See you on the other side 4. Turbonegro - Party Animals 5. Eighteen Visions - Obsession 6. Madball - Legacy 7. As I lay dying - Shadwos are security 8. Nine Inch Nails - With teeth 9. Darkest Hour - Undoing Ruin 10. Electric Eel Shock - Beat me
Yeah, in my eyes Trivium released the best album in this year. Great songs & great live show. If you have the chance to see them and you like metal, then Trivium should be there and enjoy their show.

I've only listened to it a few times so far but the new Darkness album - One Way Ticket to Hell and Back is pretty good IMO. Big Queen influence...

System Of A Down- Mesmerize Sure is a fantastic album! Hypnotize as well! Used to be a huge SOAD fan till they came with Steal This Album, but I think I just might forgive them for that one and maybe even buy it after Mezm/Hypn to make the collection complete.

This week on The Magical World Of Rock, Danko ran down his list of the 10 best records of 2005. Like with of his "10" best lists, it included more than 10.
Oh, and he also admitted they aren't really in order, he just basically wrote them down as he thought of them. Here it is!
1. First Blush - Tricky Woo
2. Saved By Magic - Brant Bjork
3. Blessed Black Wings - High On Fire
4. Shovel Headed Kill Machine - Exodus & Kreator - Enemy Of God (tie)
5. Two - Cursed
6. Republic - Sheavy
7. Wizards Castle (advance) - The Leather Uppers
8. Battles Across The Stereo Spectrum - El Guapo Stuntteam
9. Party Animals - Turbonegro
10. Robot Hives/Exodus - Clutch & Suspended Animation - Fantomas (tie)
Honorable mentions: Spread Eagle - Peter Pan Speedrock Head For The Shallow - Big Business With Teeth - Nine Inch Nails Lullabies To Paralyze - Queens of the Stone Age The Garden Of Unearthly Delights - Cathedral Doomsday Machine - Arch Enemy This Godless Endeavor - Nevermore Demigod - Behemoth Tomtom Bullet - Sweatmaster
...among others.
This was the best episode of MWOR in a while.

That is too bad. I got all excited when I read that Tricky Woo was #1. In any event, Tricky Woo's First Blush is not even my #1 record of the year (it was #2).
2005 was an awesome year for new music. There were a lot of great albums released this year. There were so many good records released in 2005 that I had to make a Top 20, as well as a Top 10 of albums I want to hear but still haven't had the chance to. It was a great year for going out to live shows, too. I saw many fabulous performances. 2005 was a million times a better music year than 2004. However, 2006 looks like it might be a weak year for music. An article a read over at canoe.ca listed artists that have confirmed or are rumoured to be releasing albums in the first 6 months of the year. From that list the only albums I can see myself picking up are Danko Jones, Outkast, and maybe Velvet Revolver. Not having a lot of good new music to choose from over the next 6 months is not necessarily a bad thing. I can either save money or work on collecting more of the records from 2005 that I want but still haven't bought.
Anyhow, here are my 2005 lists:

I'm glad you mentioned the Novaks Slade because I completely forgot about them. I first saw them open for Grady and then for Matt Mays and I totally love their sound. Sort of a Tom Petty meets Sloan with a dash of indie and blues thrown in. I listen to that CD quite often and I'm not tired of it yet.

I read that Canoe article, but I think there is a lot to look forward to in 2006. Such as:
Sleep Is The Enemy by Danko Jones Blood Money by Mobb Deep Black Blood by Bionic Death By Sexy by Eagles Of Death Metal Blood Mountain by Mastodon Serpent Saints by Entombed Wizards Castle by The Leather Uppers
and new as-yet-untitled records expected from: Death From Above 1979 Nas Radiohead Sonic Youth Mondo Generator The Roots (on Roc-a-fella) Busta Rhymes (on Aftermath)
and there's surely more.

That stupid Canoe.ca article never once mentioned Bionic or Death from Above (if it did, I missed it). You can count me in as someone who is looking forward to those ones.
Danko Jones, Bionic and Death from Above - they alone can make 2006 the year of 'A Whole Lotta Fuckin Rawk'.
