Hey, gotta love Queen. Saw The Darkness at Lowland's last summer (or was it last year...? I honestly can't remember) and they gave a pretty kickass show. Might be getting one of their albums soon and give it a try.

Not much of a Queen fan but I liked the Darkness' more rocking songs from their first record. I might check this one out.

I may have to listen to this new album... i love queen. I only really ever heard their "hits" on the radio and thought the lead singers leotards didn't leave much to the imagination (like freddy's). I love trying to reach the highnotes, so if nothing else their music puts u in a happy mood. I'll check it out.

I had trouble believing singer Justin could make those high notes himself, thought there had probably a lot of mixing and polishing been going on in the studio. But then I saw them and he can actually make them! It's truly amazing, they won my respect with that.

I always wondered if the leotards/unitards helped with hitting those high notes because it's like having your nuts in a vice. Just a theory.

If that's not it, he must secretly be a woman. But then, I don't have nuts and I can't make that sound. He's a mutant.

I like the new record. There is nothing on it as outstanding as "Growing on Me." That song was the song to end all songs. Still, I enjoy it a lot, especially the liberal use of the synthesizer on "Girlfriend," and I love the pan flute intro to "One Way Ticket" in a 'I can't believe they have the balls to do that' kind of a way.
Also, take it from me, Justin Hawkins does not need his vocals to be mixed or polished in the studio to hit those high notes. I can reach the same heights he can with my falsettos, effortlessly. 1 in 2 million men have the falsetto gene. Freddie Mercury had it, Justin Hawkins has it, and I have it.

Freddie Mercury had it??? I remember seeing him live on tv and he avoided some high notes..........think, think,think.........can't remember the name of the song.

Ok, I'm in science at school and I've taken some genetics courses and I've never heard of the falsetto gene. If you're pulling our leg its a good one or maybe its just something I've never heard of.

Sorry, I did not think anyone would take what I wrote at face value.
This is true: "Also, take it from me, Justin Hawkins does not need his vocals to be mixed or polished in the studio to hit those high notes. I can reach the same heights he can with my falsettos, effortlessly."
This is a joke: "1 in 2 million men have the falsetto gene. Freddie Mercury had it, Justin Hawkins has it, and I have it."
The joke itself is a nod to the Simpsons, which itself may have been honouring something or someone else when Dr. Hibert testified at Freddie Quimby's trial, saying: "1 in 2 million people have the evil gene. Adolf Hitler had it, Walt Disney had it, and Freddie Quimby has it."

Lol, I thought it was a joke but I'm gullible sometimes. Throw a smilie on there next time for my benefit. ;D

My two cents on the NEW Darkness album::
Okay, well, the new album doesnt even compare to their first, for openers...
The songs are not as memorable, and the lyrics just get more and more ridiculous. It's a very tiresome album, some songs make me chuckle and then just want to turn it off. I think there in for MAYBE one more album. After that, there cooked.
The last couple songs are so Queen its overboard!! You can't match Freddie Mercury!! Granted Justin can wail on guitar and vox, just too much at times.
Rating :: 5 out of 10.
