It seems as though this might finally be the year that Axl Rose delivers the long-awaited "Chinese Democracy" album. Rose, who is notoriously reclusive, broke his silence in an interview in January and was quoted as saying that "people will hear music this year." Moreover, Slash, who is no longer with the band, has said in a radio interview that the album is to be released in March. No official announcement has been made yet. Geffen Records' website has no information about Guns 'n Roses and the official GNR website has not been updated in 3-4 years. So it could be that everyone is keeping a tight lid on this thing or it might not see the light of day. However, Slash said that an official source has heard the finished product and rumour has been making the rounds that Axl Rose allowed a bar owner to hear the record in exchange for keeping his bar open after hours for Rose's 44th birthday party. And, today, two GNR songs were leaked to the internet. Illitpress has obtained leaked versions of an 80 second clip from the new GNR song "Better" and a demo of the song "I.R.S." I have listened to the 80 second clip of "Better" and I am not impressed. "I.R.S." has been taken down for the time being. I doubt these song files will be available for much longer as some sites have already been forced to take them down.

I heard that Chinese Democracy is not going to be typical GnR stuff and that clip sorta shows that. I think it will be interesting to hear nonetheless.

Axl Rose is a pathetic human being. I loved Appetite for Destruction like everyone else, and Use Your Illusion was decent, but I can't have any respect for someone who cares so little about his fans and just pisses away all of his success. I don't think Axl is anything without Slash. Was Slash supposed to have played on this new album?

I agree with you, mad. Velvet Revolver is the only good stuff now for GNR fans.period. Slash's Snakepit "it's five o'clock somewhere" is a very good album.

Guns 'n Roses without Slash and the others? No way that's getting anywhere near my cd collection... A new Velvet Revolver album would be an entire different story though.

I agree with all of you. I don't know if Slash got enough credit for what he brought to the table. I've been very tempted to get that Velvet Revolver CD, as I very much like Slash and I'm a very big fan of Stone Temple Pilots. Scot Weiland has done some good stuff with STP, but I sure wish the guy would stay off the drugs. He's going to wind up like Layne Staley.

Appetite for Destruction was one of the first albums I got, still listen to it at leat 1 time/week great album. The Use Your Illusion albums were ok could have been one great album. Spaggethi Incident... hmm not that good but it got my interest going started to listen to Dead Boys and Johnny Thunders after that so it did something good... I wanna hear Chinese Democracy just to find out what the hell Axl has been doing all these years....

I never cared for GNR, not even back in the Appetite for Destruction days. So why do I post in this thread then?

Now, it's almost like Axl Rose is fronting a GNR tribute band. I will give Chinese Democracy a listen, but I'm not expecting much from it.
As far as Velvet Revolver, I've always disliked Scott Weiland as rock singer, so it's hard for me to enjoy them, but none of the singles they put out made me want to hear the rest.

Chinese Democracy will probably suck ass, i heard the song "I.R.S" and it was pretty lame. Axl is a fool too continue under the name "Guns n ropses"

If the record ever sees the light of day, I will give it a chance before writing it off as junk. I'm not willing to dismiss the album without having heard it. Granted, I've heard three demos for songs that will supposedly be on the album and the "Better" and "IRS" demos aren't good. But I think "There was a Time" is actually a pretty good song. Still, one quality song out of three doesn't bode well for the overall quality of the record. I just hope that the leaked demos are the only poor stuff out there. I suspect Axl Rose would probably kill himself if the record was poorly received and didn't do well.

Or he'd write another crap song like 'Get In The Ring' where he tried to call out journalists who said mean things about him. I hope critics do like the album just so I don't have to listen that petulant little bitch cry.

I read that there are rumors that they'll play in Holland on June 17..The Waldrock festival first should be held on this date, but they replaced it to July 1 because of that possible concert..

Hey, first time poster. One of the local college radio stations here in Winnipeg played both leaked songs by the 'new' gnr. It was kinda depressing. especially with no slash guitar and axl is just fat and old now, but in fairness axl's voice sounded pretty good on the tracks. not great at least i didn't think so. it will be interesting the response the albumreceives.

One of his targets in that song was Bob Guccione Jr., editor-in-chief for Spin magazine. Don't know about Barbara...if that's true he's a real bully! ;D A couple of recent fan pics of Axl found their way online via some blogs after they spotted him at JFK airport.
