I saw Spiderman-3 while in Japan, great movie. Even with Japanese sub-titles. It's in my opinion better than part 2, which was already better than part 1. If you are a spiderman fan, you have to see it.

Me three, i want to go back! Amazing country... only not really next-door.
I saw shrek 3 (nice) and transformers last week. Shear sentiment from my youth that last one was. And a great action movie, go see it! (even if you dislike michael bay for making Pearl Harbour)

We went to the premiere of Transformers and loved it as well. I like youth sentiments. Still waiting for the movie of Fabeltjeskrant and Barbapappa.

okay, maybe not the most famous movie around.... I just bought 'night watch' or 'nochnoi dozor' it's a russian movie about a battle between light and dark. Pretty good if you like the style they use.

Loes, you mentioned Barbapappa.....would that have anything to do with a '70's cartoon called barbapapas? (fun, blobby creatures who could change shape and fashion themselves into lots of different useful objects when need arose)that was one of my favourites as a kid but no-one i know seems to remember it.

i haven't been to the cinema for a while (it's pricey here) but i got a few dvd's out recently. Lucas Moodyson's 'Hole in my heart' ( very raw, visceral stuff...really provocative film,) ' lie with me', and a completely OTT mixture of cheese, grimness, pathos and rock cliches in the form of 'Prey for rock 'n' roll' which has Gina gershon lezzing it up (as usual),and not as badly as in some of the tat she's appeared in , but nowhere near as good as in 'Bound' i might go to see 'knocked up';( from the reviews i've read it sounds interesting) but i'm more likely to catch a few films at the Iris festival in my city (cheap tickets for students in Chapter arts centre.)i need to save cash for gigs and art materials so movies need to take a back seat for now.

bronwen, the Barbapappa that Loes mentioned is indeed the same. I just saw it back on tv a week ago, it's being re-run here in the Dutch subbed version.
