Well people who know me, would never guess this...but I really love listening to Norah Jones and Diana Krall...their voices are just so soothing and mellowing. Very beautiful....now this is coming from someone who likes everything loud...or with crazy beatz. But sometimes it's nice just to listen to something a little different.

I get weird uncomfortable feelings when listening to mellow stuff...so only RAWK for me I'm afraid..

I just need a change of pace, every now and again. But I dropped norah and picked up sade. I can never continuously listen to one style or sound, I get bored. To me, music is like life...you're not always in one mood, you have many....and music can accomodate that. So why not listen to a lot of different things? You may find something u like. That's why I love music, you have so many options.

I know what you mean, Spun. Although my styles are not as far apart as yours. Sometimes I'm in a Slayer mood and sometimes I put King's X on.

Where do u think rock n roll gets it's influences from? The blues, jazz. Rock n roll just didn't jump out and say "Hi I'm brand new." That's why I try not to limit things. All music is connected. Music influences and inspires other music. It's ok not to like everything, but I like to appreciate music as a whole as much as I can. It's ok to listen to select bands, but just know, their music is probably influenced by somebody else. I love rock, funk, ol skool hip hop, some jazz, r&b, jungle, dnb, motown, some classical, some country, some pop, some reggae. I've been listening to a lot of funk lately, and am realizing there is almost no original hip hop. Almost all hip hop has funk sampled into their rhymes. Some people know how to work the funk to make an amazing new version, some just kill the funk and should not have borrowed it in the first place. But still. The things I hate about some music, are not enough motivation for me to stop listening to that particular genre altogether.

My favourite mellow record of all time is easily Mezzanine by Massive Attack. SOO good.
But spun, I like a little Sade once in a while too.

I know Sade and I know I don't like it. As I'm thinking about this, the only thing out of the ordinary I like is Brian Setzer, especially live, I hardly play his stuff at home.
