Caught this story of the newwire...although that beautiful girl Dido has a wonderful soft and soothing voice, don't mess with her ................................................................................. Pop superstar Dido has shown a previously unseen aggressive streak -- when she punched a security guard who didn't recognize her. The "Life for Rent" singer was amazed when the bouncer wouldn't let her join brother Rollo's band Faithless onstage, and so decided to take matters into her own hands. She says, "I told him who I was but he wouldn't move so I punched him in the stomach and he dropped to the floor." ............................................................................... PS: "White Flag" time for unsuspecting doormen --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When I listen to that new Nickleback song Figure You Out where Chad tries his damndest to show how hard and nasty he is so we'll forget about How You Remind Me and Someday, even I'd like to punch him!
His face needs to make friends with my fist.

Did y'ever wonder how they got such a... "unique" name? Nickelback? A bunch of the band members used to work at Starbucks, and the most commonly ordered drink was X number of dollars and 95 cents. Like $4.95. So they'd often give a "nickel back." Isn't that just the most bad-ass "rock" band name ever? I especially liked when Chad Kroeger signed a contract with McDonald's. That was a classic rocker move, too. *S

It may be "selling out" but money is money. That guy could quit now and live very comfortably for the rest of his life.

Danko Jones should make over-produced, radio-friendly, adult contemporary tunes disguised as rock songs so they can sign anti-downloading deals with McDonalds and retire and live comfortably for the rest of their lives.
Because money is money.

Yes..you have to watch out for the quiet ones. That's so hardkore (nickelback) maybe they should start wearing ties and touring with avril too, to prove their street cred. And Tidy, it pains me to say this, but u never know...maybe you'll get your wish.
I don't even care about "selling-out"anymore...seems like nothing is sacred anymore. You can't be a poor rockstar because u can't live. You can't be a rich rockstar because youre a sell out. I just can't stand people who don't stand by their word. If u want to make lots of money - go ahead...but be about it. If you want to be independant, then be about that. Don't go back n forth and be all wishy washy.
I like this line from "tribe" (I think, but I mix lyrics all up in my head all the time). It is where they're talking about people saying they sold out and he goes: "It used to make me very angry , used to be quite vexed...but say what you want, just cash my cheque." That's really the bottom line...we can sit here and say whatever we want...but people will still make money and be happy living their luxurious lives. Even if they have stupid names, and pathetic music.

Just as Britney Spears fades from the collective unconscious that is the American wet dream; wrecking her hot body by giving birth, and stretching out an already sizeable vagina; Jessica Simpson comes back on the market. This is America's greatest natural resource: pretty, young, slutty blondes who make mediocre music. It proves once again that this resource is sustainable and renewable.

Yes, quite convenient isn't it. That little jesse is suddenly single now that britney has her trailor full of child. Although, jesse may have something brit doesn't, because she could actually, get married, talk about her "bodily functions" on national tv....and still be considered america's pure, virginal sweetheart. But that's the music industry- one big cardboard cut out - "insert new face/money maker here." It will continue on like that as long as the industry keeps finding new ways of making money. Every era has it's niche. For the last 10 yrs or more it seems to be "the pretty, sparkley white american sweetheart" era. Yet with hip hop -its the "I have lots of money because I rob n kill people" era. It's all entertainment. And that's all you can really take from it. As long as people are supporting it, and the labels can market it - it will exist. Sure everyone and their grandmother are becoming "indie" these days, but commercial music will never go out of business. A lot of times even indie artists will turn mainstream because they just get sick of struggling. I could go on and on, and I already have. But I agree with you. Hot blondes will always be in fashion and people will buy their crap.

You can sell out as long as you don't compromise (ie "soften") your music to make it more easily sellable.
Which I don't think Danko Jones will ever do.
