*BURP* sorry 'bout that! I'm feeling kind of wrecked at the moment, but very contented also. Because last night the Mighty Mango Kid & his 2 outlaw friends payed a visit to my hometown... It was briljant!!! The place was sold out, and it was really packed with people!! I liked The Electric Eel Shock! They put up a huge show & that japanese humor is funny to! I really dug it! Which band could top that kind of show huh? You guessed it people... This is what they played...at least in my memory...order may not be right...but head-ache...etc.etc... We Sweat Blood Way To My Heart Samuel Sin Sex Change Shake Dance Living In The City Play The Blues Strut Sound Of Love Sugar Chocolate Forget My Name Word Is Bond Never Again Hot Damn Woman Lover Call Get Outta Town I Want You Cadillac Mountain I'm really thankfull they played STRUT, which was my special request...man it kicked ass...& proves again that they check out this board... The opener WE SWEAT BLOOD was so tight... Really cool with the blood-red lights & all... WORD IS BOND also there...man I like that boogie... Damon was the outshiner last night btw...the guy kicked some ass!!! Danko was very talkative & said they played the MELKWEG last year in the small room, but that they got some sort of promotion, moving to the bigger room now He also asked the crowd if it wouldn't be a stunt if DJ tore the whole theatre down & they would be the last band who had ever performed there... ;D & then there was this guy at he end of the show who tryed to stage-dive...LOL...Danko saying; "You see that guy wants to stage-dive at a DJ concert...wants too start his own band...RIGHT!" ;D PLEASE come back soon guys... We even got big arena's if needed...

Yeah, thanks for the great post JFJ. It's cool that they inserted Strut into the set. I'd love to hear that one live. It was a nice, long set for you too - 19 songs! Glad you had fun, man. I can't wait for the next Ontario gig!

Great report JFJ. glad that u enjoyed the show so much, you've been waiting for a long time, wish i was there with you....did u get to mingle with band afterwards or did they need to pack-up and hurry to the next venue?

did u get to mingle with band afterwards or did they need to pack-up and hurry to the next venue? I have to admit I didn't try on that Rocky...I'm such a wuss... Somehow I always chicken out on that, afraid I make a stupid remark or somethin' and get banned for all future DJ shows ;D Better I didn't after all, because after readin' they cancelled the Dortmund shows & all, I think they were a bit trashed ;D

yeah i did talked to the guys and acted real ass ;D Now you blew it Danko...no more DJ shows for you anymore! LOL ;D It's actually worth a topic, but I think meating the band-members takes away something of the mystique & stuff...I know these people burp & fart just like everyone else (or am I the onlyone?;D), but maybe that's just what I don't wanna know:-/ I also can imagine that a band doesn't like to hear the same questions over & over again...especially when they're tired. For us those questions maybe seem original, but to them I dunno except when they're from our Q&A ofcourse

At the Islington gig in October I had a quick chat with JC and I've got to say he's a nice bloke. He and the rest of the band also signed my copy of WSB. It was a small gig so it was a much more relaxed atmosphere. I don't think I said anything stupid or at least I hope I didn't. Danko didn't come out though and Damon was being interviewed by a journalist so I didn't manage to speak to them.
This gig at Melkweg looks like a similar set list to the Mean Fiddler one except I think you had a few more songs than us. I bet Melkweg doesn't have stupid curfew times. The song I really wanted to hear again was "Never again". Ah well there's next time I suppose.

Lots of folks seem to really like Never Again. I've seen them do it live quite a few times even though I've never been a huge fan of the song. It is way better live than on CD though, but a lot of their shit is, I suppose.

I bet Melkweg doesn't have stupid curfew times. What do you mean exactly with curfew??? They can't play after 12 or so? Man, that SUCKS!!! Is it only at the Meanfidler or at other London clubs also? I have to admit the band really treats the audience with such a long set. They don't have to do that! They only got 3CD's you know...actually Danko said something during the show like "after this gig we're going to germany, so we should cut things a little short, but hey, we LOVE Amsterdam so we'll do the long one!!!" They are just that kind of band you know, so COOL!!

It is way better live than on CD though, but a lot of their shit is, I suppose. i've always liked the song alot, so i was glad they played it live, but i totaly agree that alot of songs sounds better live, especially the songs wich have some backup guitar part on the album, like "Hot Damn Woman" Danko kinda does a strumming part during the chorus *DANADANADANA* Well nobody knows what i mean anyway ;D
