Is it just me or can a sense of style make or break a person. For instance take a man throw him in some jogging pants and a holey T and you'd be like "what a bum" take the same man throw him in a suit and yer like "haaay how U doin?" Perhaps clothes don't make u the person you are, but they definately affect how others see u. I personally am addicted to clothes, and like to be somewhat of a trend setter in my circle of friends. They never usually follow my trends and I end up being a "freak" but I dig it anyway!

It's all about HOW you present yourself, not what you present yourself in.

Normally I don't get noticed by girls all that much, but when I wear my 3 piece Italian Suit they are all suddenly like. HeyGoodlookin....
It freaks me out because I got no time to frolic around all day in my (waytoo expensive) suit.

While I do agree ball - it is what u wear as well as how u present yourself. Honestly - how classy can u present yourself in a holey tank top and cut- off jean shorts? "Yeehaw ma', let's take the kiddies to walmart? " Fatty - go frolic in that suit..work it for all its worth. If it's pricey - all the more reason to strut till u wear it out. If I'm gonna spend a lot of money on sumthin - u better believe I'm gonna wear it till I wear it out. IF I ever get married it will suck (wedding gowns are expensive) - I'll b grocery shopping in that sucka...playin tackle football...clubbin...sleeping in it I never understand those people who buy fancy stuff and only wear it on special occasions - what good are those outfits going to do sitting in yer closet? WORK THEM HONEY! This goes for u as well bakery - work that voodoo u crazy perverted lady LOL

When I was at a concert on thursday, I realized how much "punkrock"-concerts are actually fashion-shows. It was just hilarious. You know, there are those rockabilly-cats with their denim and their hair combed back, the punks with their leather jackets, spiked till it hurts and, for worst, those people who only go to these kind of concerts because they think that it is soooooo hip to be punk or rock or whatever nowadays. they dress up like a punkrock-barbiedoll, all fancy with the spiked leather belt, these 2-colored college-shirts and their converse shoes. Actually, if you look "normal" you're the freak.

Actually, if you look "normal" you're the freak. know what you mean Natty, actually it takes a lot of courage to look "normal" these days I hate dressing codes, especially the ones at work...like I'm in the army or something...I wanna be ME! let's all go back to nature.. ;D

Hahaha JFJ...nudist colonies anyone? It's true Natty. But what the hell is "normal" anymore anyway? It kinda sucks that "punk" & "rockabilly) fashion is so in these days - nobody can be an individual anymore. Then again if you really think about it - you can never really have unique style really - somebody has come along and done it long before your time. People usually think I'm a punk - cuz I have a mohawk..but that's what I like - nobody really ever can name what style it is I have - cuz I'm different everyday. Does this make me a "chameleon" with no real valid "mind of my own" - I don't think so. I'd rather do whatever I want then fit into some little box of who it is people believe me to be.

(I think ýou;re right spunshuga, i'll wear it more...) But I actually think that if you try to not fit into the box that people think you're in you actually yourself want to fit in another box of people that think that they do not want to fit in a box. {If you know what I'm saying)
People are group animals, we all want to fit together we always will try to find some sort of harmony between eachother, and there will always be groups of people with the same interests and ways of life.

I agree with you guys. I hate that they sell rockabilly clothes to teens in fuckin Hennes&Mauriz nowadays! I mean, WTF? And one friend of mine just asked me why I bought these really cheap sneakers instead of Converse, I was like What's the difference? Does the brand make you "more real"? BUT. What is real? How do you define real? I think nobody else can't say what's real and what's not, only person who knows it is yourself. Make any sense?

Milkei; Did you say that? Or did you just think that? Were you talking there? Because I think we heard you.

Yes...indentity - what is it anyway? What makes you - you? Can anyone really answer that? It's true fatty we are group animals and we put ourselves in little boxes no matter what we really do...if we're "fake" or if we're "real." Everything is perception really. Deep down inside I think I'm very genuine no matter what I wear. And if others don't see that - well hey, that's perception. And the bottom line is when it comes to who you are - you only really ever have to answer to yourself! SO JUST STRUT!!!!!

Then again if you really think about it - you can never really have unique style really - somebody has come along and done it long before your time. Reminds me of the quotation: "You laugh at me because I'm different. I laugh at you because you're not." (Or something like that.) Hm, yeah, unless you design and make your own clothes, it's guaranteed someone else out there has already worn that same thing at some point (even used/vintage clothes, though different than what's currently in malls, is not technically original). I'm for the "wear what I want and screw the rest o'ya!" dress code. Sometimes that means jeans and a sweatshirt, sometimes somethin' a little more stylin', and every now and then it's really dolled up. ... Regarding the original post: It's not just you; it's true. *S

I come across as odd for my age, i'm the only guy in my highschool who wears a black fedora with a classy dress shirt and then a dirty leather jacket. But when you really think about it the more you go out and wear your tattered and vintage clothing the more your conforming to a society of rebels. But then again i don't really know what i'm talking about.

Yes, we're usually conforming in one way or another whether we see it or not. Don't worry, I never know what I'm talking about

well, being someone who's in their 30's, i don't have anything in common musically with people my own age - i'm always talking with the kids in their early 20's about rock music because everyone else i know my age listens to crap, or is still listening to the same stuff we listened to in high school. so i don't really conform in a way....
