Yes he does have fantastic tone and he's big on the slide. Here's the setup Gordie uses straight from the horse's mouth:
In Big Sugar, I was using 2 Ampeg SVT heads at 2 ohms thru Marshall cabs- that's 450 watts a side my friends! I swapped the original power tubes out for Groove Tube KT-88's. However...I went direct from my Garnet Herzog into the power circuit of the Ampegs. My sound never touched the tone circuitry of the SVT's.
For Grady: We're playing in way smaller clubs, so I'm using my Garnet Herzog into 2 mid-70's Fender Super Twins. That's right- SUPER TWINS. Two 12-inch speakers, 6 power tubes (instead of 4), and again, I swapped out the original 6L6's for Groove Tube KT66's [for a deeper throat].

Its a fuck load of volume enomar. Big Sugar used to be called the loudest band in Canada and for good reason. At the show where that song came from they were using so much juice for their equipment they blew the power. No joke. As for my selection today...Jamiroquai - Feels Just Like it Should. Jamiroquai is so groovy and this is a damn catchy song. s50.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1959H716G3U3238XE9IDOIP69K

My mp3 to share this week? The one and only Richard Pryor. It would be great if somebody would deliver a eulogy this funny at his funeral. Eulogy.mp3

Thanx Bomber, I'm listening right now. And as for The Return Of Jackie and Judy, quickdump is dumping ME again. Send those to me when we're on msn, Tidy. I'm half way through the song and not that exited really...

And as for The Return Of Jackie and Judy, quickdump is dumping ME again. Send those to me when we're on msn, Tidy. Hmm, Quickdump is too busy. Shame. Yeah I think I'm dumping Quickdump. It's just too damn temperamental. I'm glad it worked for you though, enomar! Send it seems to work fine, the only problem with Send it is that it only hosts for 7 days or 25 downloads whichever comes first. So here's a new file hosting site to try: rapidshare.de/Like Quickdump, there is no limit to how long your file can stay up, or how many times it can be downloaded, but maybe Rapidshare will be a little more reliable. Don't sleep on the Ramones original and the Tom Waits cover of 'The Return Of Jackie and Judy'. They're both essential listening. Bomber, thanks for that Darkness tune. I like it, but I will look for a more rocking song on that new record, like "Love On The Rocks With No Ice" from the first one.

Tidy -> "Love on the Rocks With No Ice" is my favourite from their first record but I don't think you'll find anything quite as heavy on the new record. The new songs are much more polished and seem quite melodic. I was a bit disappointed that it wasn't as heavy as the first one but I still ended up really liking it after a few goes.

Okay, time to give RapidShare a shot. My upload for this week is the new single from The Strokes, Juicebox. Their third record which is called First Impressions of Planet Earth, comes out Tuesday. Check out the catchy-as-hell bassline in this track: The Strokes - Juicebox.mp3
