I've seen danko a few times (the best gigs of my life) and twice he has played a song where the lyrics are "this mouth gets louder, this skin gets thicker" or something. I love that song!!! i need to know if it's been recorded and if i can get my greedy little danko lovin' hands on a copy.....or even if someone could tell me the name of the track! i cant get enough of the mango kid!

Danko Jock we are glad to see another Danko Jones junkie, welcome. The song is called 'Mountain', its never been recorded, you can hear it thanks to the following post which was made by our always alert mod 'Tidyman', hopefully this will help you out with your quest for this awesome song, enjoy doode. The video of which he spoke has been removed unfortunately but you can still listen to the audio: .................................................................................... So how do you one-up my mp3 of Mountain from Pinkpop festival 2003? You listen AND watch it on streaming video of course! Check out this link for lots of cool multi-media footage. It's second only to umusic: 3voor12.vpro.nl/3voor12/groups/index.jsp?groups=5504605And make sure you check out the audio of the Lowlands 2002 show. It has a version of Mountain (at the 39:35 mark) which is actually better than the Pinkpop version. Enjoy.

Yes, never been recorded and Danko has said before that he may never record it. The other artists he names at the top of the mountain are never the same, so I guess it would be difficult to narrow it down for a final studio version.
I don't give a shit though. I belong to the minority of DJ fans that wish they would record a studio version, so I could hear it more than just a few times a year! Just pick an all-star group of artists to name and record it dammit! They could still change it up at live gigs!
But I'm calm. I'm cool-headed.

Deep breaths, DEEEP breaths Tidy! I disagree with you there, actually I don't think they should record it. Its so cool to have a un recorded, but still very famous song to pull up on the gigs... This old debate never stops ;D Welcome by the way, Danko Jock. Another rock soul as found the way here..... good job

it was said early on they may never record "anything". they did. it was said early on they may never record the then-epic "love is unkind". they did. (and for the latter, too bad).

Does Danko do the slapping-his-face thing every time he plays "Mountain"? Man, he was seriously hitting himself hard at the Lee's Palace show. Just one more thing I loved about that show.

And there you have it. Sac, offering up the more popular of the two Mountain viewpoints, which is "never record it, save it for live shows only", and GBV saying "too bad they ever recorded that edited down version of Love Is Unkind", which happens to be one of my favourite DJ songs.
'Vive la differance' I guess.
Yes KJ, Danko slaps himself every time he says "this mouth gets louder". He was so fired up by the end of the song that night he was almost beating the crap out of himself! There's nothing like your first Danko show. See you at the next one, dude!

This song is sooo emotional, sooo special to the band that i doubt if they will ever record it...signature song. Now with badtaste records hinting to us about a possible Danko Jones DVD they'll probably close it out with DJ pouring their hearts out with this number. Proper thing, I say.

it was said early on they may never record the then-epic "love is unkind". they did. (and for the latter, too bad). Okay, GBV. Thanks to a new post from a fine gentleman calling himself bighairygrinch, I've heard an epic-length version of Love Is Unkind recorded at a Chicago gig in 1998. It seems you may be on to something. That is indeed an amazing version! I especially like the stuff about forever being not as long as you think, and that it could end in an instant. Shit I wish he would have included some of that in the studio version! Maybe he was worried that people wouldn't want to hear too much of his bitter, self-indulgent ranting but I think it's captivating. I still love the studio version but alas, I may never hear it the same way again!
