That's a great quote you found, milkei! Tricky Woo keepin it real. They've done some gigs with DJ in the past and they're not bad. I still like this one song they have called 'Sad Eyed Woman'.

Back and quoting from one of the only Van Halen songs I can still listen to. How were the Guided By Voices shows, man? (Wait, don't answer that - wrong section).

Tidyman, do you mean to tell me you don't like The Mighty Van Halen? A man of your rock cred? Oh God!
"One step ahead, one step behind . . . now you gotta run to get even!"
GBV shows were fucking awesome, all of them. A bit hazy on Toronto (gulp, gulp) but they played past 2 a.m. House lights on, house music on, people thinking it's over and Bob and Doug (yea) came out and played just the two of them. Including Bulldog Skin. No, really! In Detroit Tobin Fucking Sprout was in the house and came on stage for Hot Freaks. Sweeet! In Chicago it was one of the best beer-drinking rock n' roll crowds I have ever seen, people flew in from San Fran for it, even. Bob was on fire and they opened with Subspace Biographies, a Pollard-solo tune I'd never heard live before.

If you didn't like that Halenesque welcome back here's another one you'll hate even more:
"Well guess who's back in circulation? I don't know what you're made of hun but what i need right now's the original . . . " DLR, Yankee Rose

I may not love VH the way I used to - but I still love Hot For Teacher. I'd love to hear Danko Jones cover it, but as much as I love em, we both know Danko would have no chance in hell of reproducing Eddie's guitar work in that song, and Damon couldn't handle Alex's work on drums (for one, his kit is way too small)! And GBV you're in good company, Danko himself is a VH fan - he picked DLR as his third favourite rock n roll singer of all time.
Sounds like those Guided By Voices shows were cool. I would have loved to see Tobin join them onstage - and especially for Hot Freaks which might be my single favourite GBV song!
Just call me King Everything. This one is on the house.

Yeah, that would kick if Danko did Hot For Teacher. I can picture it, actually.
Tobin was the opening "act" for the Chicago show, hence the diehard presence. He came on stage for Hot Freaks that night too and the backstage conversation apparently went: Bob: "O.K., when Hot Freaks is done we'll go right into Motor Away." Tobin: "I don't know Motor Away." Bob came out during Tobin's set too and they did 14 Cheerleader Coldfront. Yup.
Hot Freaks -- great, dirty, gritty fucking tune.
