www.downhillbattle.org/who gets money when you buy a cd? -5 companies control over 85% of all pre-recorded music(RIAA) -a %16 CD is very cheap to make, but musicians get less than $1 to share -the big 5 have already been caught price fixing CDs at least twice(FTC) don't spend your hard-earned money on more corruption and greed. help get rid of these unneeded, dying labels by not buying them. they're hurting artists and consumers alike. with them gone, all will benefit. do your research. support indie. burn CDs. file-share. www.downhillbattle.org/

grinch: Well a burned cd does not hold the same value to me as the value of an original cd. Sure if the artist sucks i'll just burn it. But i buy most of my records.
And i know that the artist makes a little money of every sale. But at least the get some money, if everyone would burn cd's the artist wouldn't make any money at all.

they make more money off of touring.

well it depends. Smaller bands don't make that much money while touring. But it would be great to have all bands touring all the time.

It's up to them, not to me.

well it depends. Smaller bands don't make that much money while touring. But it would be great to have all bands touring all the time. That's so true. Usually just to cover the travelling expenses and maybe few free beers and some chips if they're lucky. So I agree with supportin indies, but I would NOT ever just burn my fav bands CD's. I pay the price and hope it will lift that band up to album charts so that they could have more money from shows. Make any sense?

Make any sense? I think it does...but I also think prices are way to high these days...when I see how much CD's all you people buy...I wonder how you pay the rent & all... I have to admit I don't think of it at all when I'm buying CD's...I just like the cool package & the better soundquality...& if I think the product is worth it I'll buy it. When I see a cool bootleg I'll buy it anyway...don't care who gets the money...I just wanna have it! Offcourse I would like to see those big monopoly company's gettin' destroyed...but the alternative would be what? The same thing will start all over again from the beginning...

exactly, even though most record companies raise the prices. Imagine every artist being on small indie lables. You'd have to import almost every album... and that wouldn't be much cheaper.
