Lordi won the eurovision song contest. i can't believe this. this is amazing. for those unfamiliar with eurovision: it is meant to be a battle of nations, with each nation being represented by folk song/artist. the national performers are chosen by the people of the respective country. after the show, people from all over europe may call for their favorite artist. one can easily imagine that the whole show is about as interesting as a slice of toast, and, even worse, cripples any sign of decent taste as soon as it starts to rise. this year was different. this is what ususally enters the contest. this is lordi (GWAR reloaded, basically) see the lordi- videoread a short bbc report here. I'd rather see a real rock band win it instead of a joke band

Is there something in life that you CAN be positive about, Toppler?

Sweden beat Canada in the hockey game yesterday. I was quite positive about that. If we win the final today I guess I'm going to be positive about that but I doubt that we have any chance in the final. I'm quite positive about next weekend because it seems to be one of the best weekends this year.
Other things I'm positive about:
Stalinism good music (duh) Summer Veganism Star Trek being aired again My 13 hour work weeks My recent weight loss (still too fat but I'm getting there)
but yeah I guess my negative list is longer.

And Philthy, you WATCHED that shit? sure, some acts are sooooooooo stupid that it's amusing..like the entry from Ukraine, Lithuania and many more.. Paul de Leeuw had to give points for the Netherlands, which was hilarious..he called the host of the show in Athens SakiSperma, told him that he loved his blouse, gave him his mobile number and called him SakiTzaziki ;D

Yeah I watched the last part, when the results came in, which still took long enough. I had a big fucking grin on my face ever since the first countries started throwing 12 points towards Lordi.
It was about time that someone gave the Eurovision a wake-up call. For a metalband, their music is actually quite boring or at least not my cup of tea. But the other contestants sang songs that I swore could've been on Eurovision 100 years ago. Every year the crap sounds the same. Every year Holland sucks major ass. Just look at what we've sent this year, 3 women in their midlife crise, not even dressed to match, singing a song in a language they made up theirselves, like a couple of 4 year olds.
It was about time that a band like Lordi made people see what they were doing. We've heard those songs a 1000 times already people! These aren't the Middle Ages, people want originality and controversy these days! I say, keeping Lordi in thought, that we must send Peter Pan Speedrock to represent us next year. Let them see, hear and feel what REAL dutch music is all about!

as long they wear those costumes they could do lionel ritchie songs on a flute and I wouldn't care. Word up. And sure they're not really doing anything image-wise that Gwar hasn't already done, but who cares? It still works. Hard rock hallelujah, baby!
