Hiya *waves at everyone* I'm new 'ere. Voted for WSB too. My humble opinion is that we sweat blood makes for the best album as a whole, because there's only one song on there I dun like, but Alive and BAL have some better individual songs. At least, that's what I think. Er. Another Dutch treat for us Welcome aboard Mara, I see where u will be catching your 1st Danko gig soon...you'll get goosebumps, you'll shake, you'll scream and perhaps u may even like it Have a great time!!!Rawk yer sox off.

Bloody hell! So I gotta behave myself at the Milkyway then 'cause Mara's watchin'... Anyway I'm afraid I'm still on the Born A Lion-side people:( Alltough I think that when I heard the new stuff live I'll vote for WSB anyway...

okay I haven't been here in a dog's age, so my opinion is probably outdated..but I'd have to say the albums are like my children..they all have their good qualities and bad (although i don't have kids..it's kind of a bad analogy) and i love them all equally. And I would never choose one over the other...does that make me lame or crazy? Wait...don't answer that.

Now there's a poster we haven't heard from in awhile! Welcome back, spun!
That 'children' analogy is good one, but an evil Swedish man made us pick one, and I think you should have to as well. ;D
I picked Born A Lion but if I could pick again I'd choose WSB. Couldn't imagine living without any of them though.

VERY very welcome back Spunshuga! I registered just about in time when you got your online problems (?), so you and me might not have written to eachother EVER ! And BTW, I am the eeevil man mr. Todd spoke about. Am I that cruel, to make you all choose? Well, I think so, yes... ;D But I would also, as Tidy says, change my vote from Alive to the awsome WSB if I could! Hope to see you more in here soon!

I still can't decide which is the best. One day I'll say one CD, and the next day I'll flip flop. I think that children analogy is bang on. On one hand, BAL has Lovercall, but on the other hand, WSB has Love Travel and The Cross, and on some freakish mutated third hand, AOF has Mango Kid and Sex Change Shake.

Well, I gots all three of them (and who wouldn't) and so far "Born A Lion" is my favourite out of the three. I may change my mind after I listen to WSB 10 or so more times .

my vote hands down is for we sweat blood. and no, not because it's the newest, i just find born a lion to have too much filler and the sound is just too glossy for what danko jones "should" sound like.

Geebz lives! Just out of curiosity, what BAL songs are filler? I think that records best songs are 2 through 5, but I wouldn't describe any of the other seven tracks as filler. I've said to friends many times that one of my favourite things about Danko Jones records is I can throw any one of them on and not worry about the 'disc skip' button. I also don't feel that the production is too slick, but I HAVE heard other DJ fans say that.
Having said that, I will agree with you (and Danko himself) that WSB is hands down their best record.
I don't consider myself a total fanatic - when/if they ever put out a less than outstanding record I will be the first to say it - I just don't think it's happened yet (the self-titled EP doesn't count).

Now that I've had plenty of time to get to know WSB, I think I can make a judgement on this.
Personally, I found Born A Lion to be immediately better. When that one came out I bought it and it never came out of my CD player for about a month straight! A few days after I bought it, my girlfriend and I went on a 6 hour roadtrip to see Wide Mouth Mason in Ignace, Ontario and we listened to BAL almost non-stop all the way there. That disc never strayed far from my CD player over the next year.
WSB is a great record, but it took me some time and several listens to "get it". Some of the tunes were immediately catchy, but as a whole, I had to let it soak in. Now, I like it allot, but it just didn't have that irresistible quality that BAL did. On the other hand, people who have a leaning toward heavy music seem to love it right from the go. My roommate listened to WSB and he came out of his room 40 minutes later and exclaimed that it was "F**CKING AWESOME!!!"
I think I just prefer the catchy guitar hooks and bass grooves of BAL.

for starters, i could do without papa, plus the chorus to soul on ice kind of grates. and what was done to love is unkind is a shame. ya have to remember i put in this album after seeing a gazzilion shows and after really digging the mango kid release, top to bottom, and the s/t ep. born a lion has this sheen that really does the grit of danko jones no justice. that said, lover call is done justice on the album, phank god. but the album just kind of went against everything that danko jones said, everything danko jones suggested: the rules, ya know. don't get me wrong, i love the *rock factor* on the album but it's just not danko jones, proper. (i think).

Have to say I kind of agree with GBV, BAL is too "made" for me too but I like the bass sounds. I prefer punk and metal. But again I can write my fav phrase here below ;D
Its a matter of taste said dog while licking his balls.
