Just a heads up that DJ will be taking the stage at 9:15 tonight. One show only before they head on tour with Nickelback. It'll be a short set and the first with new drummer Dan Cornelius. Tickets at the door. Details on dankojones.com.

Tidyman and me were chatting yesterday as this came up and he went to the show. I felt bad, because I really wanted to go with him. But he made some great pictures! Tell us all about it, my man.....

AWESOME show... first date... such a good song... and the banter... it was funny stuff... the crowd seemed to be a whos who of toronto indie scene, we noticed a memeber from the illuminati, and i think i saw the dude from staggered crossing

Yeah, it was an excellent set, I thought. Dan was certainly into it. He was smiling the whole time, and very enthusiastic. He only missed one cue that I could tell and it was pretty funny. John and Danko and I were all laughing as it happened, as was Dan. I also took some pictures. Hopefully I'll get to them later.
And yeah, there were a bunch of indie scene folk there (yes, including Nick from Illuminati).
I sent the mail out at about 5:45 (I only found out about 90 minutes prior and wasn't near a computer), but for some reason it got held up in the dankojones.com mail server and didn't arrive to my inbox till 7:30! Arrgh, that sucks. This is the first time I can recall where a DJML was held by the server.
Still, there was a pretty good turnout--considerably more than there are at most of those Wed night 'Shoe shows. I asked the woman at the door and she said she was very surprised at the number of people (there was a line to get in when I got there).
Anyway, it was a good time. I wish we'd confirmed it up earlier and I was able to get more people out, but what can you do... ?

I have to give a shout-out to GBV, who alerted me ahead of the mail-out that this show might happen, or else that damn mail server would have caused me to miss the gig too! Dobbs, were you the guy right at the front with the camera? It was cool hanging out with Mango Kid, and seeing Sway again - who tore through the streets of Toronto to make it in time, heh. Yeah good set. First Date was catchy as hell. Dan Cornelius did reasonably well for his first show, but the miscue dobbs mentioned was a big one: he missed that opening blast in Samuel Sin, right after Danko says "my mama raised a devil child." But it was funny because you know he'll never miss it again. It was a short but fun work-out-the-kinks and scrape-off-the-rust show. And it was great hearing three Sleep Is The Enemy songs! Here are the pics I took:

Now we know what the new drummer looks like.I'm sure his drumming will be perfect on the coming tour...
What happened to the usual Danko's telecaster?...

Amazing pics Tidy! They look tight as ever. And somehow you always come home with them damn setlists... Is that because you're so freakishly tall (yeah I've heard rumours!) that you can pick 'em right off the stage? Because I may not be short, but not freakishly tall either, so that will mean you'll have to get me one as well when in Holland. Yup, that's what it'll mean. Loes Logic.

Danko's Gibson Explorer guitar looks great. I second that, I love that Explorer. When he came out with it at the Lee's show I thought it looked sweet and the sound it got was awesome. Nice pics Tidy!

Thanks for the kudos on the pics, gang.
Spun, I did think of you. At the show MK asked me if you knew about it, and I said I didn't know, but if I could have contacted you I would have.
Understand I only found about it a few hours before the mailout, and I only have sweetchef's digits.
Oh well, I'll see you at the next one!
