rock am ring is too big, too expensive and overrun by people who come only to get pissed and see the headliner. Not even Danko can make me go there.

I forget who Layne's replacement is, but yeah...he's kinda hard to replace.

I just didn't think that Cantrell had any interest in doing anymore Alice. You're right, you can't replace Layne. Hell, maybe Cantrell is doing all of the vocals. He's a decent singer, and he had already done quite a few vocal leads on the last couple of Alice in Chains CDs. I guess that was out of necessity because Layne was strung out and couldn't be depended on to show up for recording sessions. It's a shame Cantrell's solo stuff hasn't been more popular. Boggy Depot is very good, and Degradation Trip is amazing (make sure you have the two disc version). Did you catch the Cardboard Vampyres thing that Cantrell did with Billy Duffy? There's some live audio on their website at www.cardboardvampyres.com/. It's a mix of Cult, Alice in Chains and assorted covers (AC-DC, Zepplin, Floyd, Metallica, etc).

if anyone cares about seeing danko on a german festival: check the "with full force". It's a quite decent hardcore/metal/punk festival. Don't know if it's really true since there is nothing confirmed on dankojones.com, but I'll probably be there if it turns out to be...
bands are (up to now):
KORN · SOULFLY · MOTÖRHEAD · CELTIC FROST · KREATOR · IN EXTREMO · CLAWFINGER · A.O.K. · AMORPHIS · ARCH ENEMY · BLEED THE SKY · BLOODSIMPLE · BORN FROM PAIN · BOYSETSFIRE · BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE · CRUSHING CASPARS · DANKO JONES · DEADLINE · DEADSOIL · DEICIDE · DEMENTED ARE GO! · DEVILDRIVER · DIE KRUPPS · DIE LOKALMATADORE · DISMEMBER · ENDSTILLE · EVERGREEN TERRACE · FIRE IN THE ATTIC · GOREFEST · GRAVEWORM · HEAVEN SHALL BURN · IGNITE · KINGS OF NUTHIN · LEEWAY · MADBALL · MAMBO KURT & BOSSA BABES · MYSTIC CIRCLE · NAPALM DEATH · OPETH · RAUNCHY · RAWSIDE · STONE SOUR · SYNTHETIC BREED · THE ANTI DOCTRINE · THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER · TOXOPLASMA · TRIVIUM · UNDERDOG · VOLBEAT
