Where do I begin...it was firggen hot and Loud in the Horseshoe last night. Danko it the stage at 230amish and played for about an Hour and 15 mins. Huge ovation and the place was packed. Grady from old Big Sugar days was there and I thin I saw some members from Billy Talent therer and plus some other band members and industry types
Danko busted right into Alive and on Fire....which was a huge surprise and the crowd ate up every part of it. I can't recall all of the songs but it'll give it a shot (In no particular order) . A lot of song off SITE were played. Incuding Sticky Situation, Baby Hates me (I think, not too sure though), Don't Fall in Love (Which was a surprise and sounded better live than it does on the Cd), She Drugs, The Finger, First Date, Invisible and Sleep is the Enemy. Other song choices were Way to My heart, Word is Bond, Forget My Name (I think) (I'm sorry I got home at 5 am and I'm still recovering) The Cross, Sugar Chocolate (Danko - "This is a song about race mixing")and Lovercall
That's all I can remember now but if someone has the setlist it would be great to see. They played a few songs that I didn't recognize that could either be B-sides or off off I'm Alive and On Fire and I would love to figure out what they were.
The surprise of the night was the fact that Cadillac was not payed and also Danko and Co closed with Love is Unkind rather than Bring on the Mountain. Love is Unkind was HUGE, the crowd loved it and JC layed down a great bass line. It was phenomenal. I know there was two guys video taping the set and if it makes it to the web all must watch that closing song....simply intense.
The guys seemed to have a great time up on stage and stage banter was great. Danko caught a guy yawning in the crowd and was quick to point out to the guy that "there is no yawning at a Danko Show."
Also noticed that there was no cowbell on Dan's kit last night.....I must say....bring back the cowbell...I got a fever........and the only perscription is more cowbell.
That's all I got for now, great pics Parkdale, I hope to get my buddies pics from last night and post them soon, I'll have to figure it out though.
Hell of a performance. Probably the best set I have seen yet, a great mix old and new.
Also, the bands Wintersleep and Sylvie had great sets and was very impressed.
I'm off too curl up in a ball and to rock back and fourth hoping my ears stop ringing soon....
I'll try to get the pics up.
Stay Classy,

Which is exactly where I hosted my pics. I loved your crowd shot parkdale. You can see me and spunshuga and mango kid, and if you look behind the guy at the front with the red shirt and holding a white cup, you can see sway's head poking out, talking to her friend. But yes, it was a great show. Just because it was a Euro tour warm-up show doesn't mean it was half-assed. It was a hot, sweaty, long set, and I was worn out just watching it! And it was a great mix of old and new songs. Songs they did from SITE: Sticky Situation She's Drugs First Date Don't Fall In Love Invisible The Finger Sleep Is The Enemythey did NOT do Baby Hates Me, which was a little surprising. The only songs classy and spun forgot to mention were Woogie Boogie, and an ultra-speedy rendition of Wait A Minute. I loved hearing them do Word Is Bond again because it's one of my favourite live songs...and the Love Is Unkind closer was unbelievable. It's been restored to it's full 8+ mins glory, which like Mountain, has to be seen and heard live to be truly appreciated. Funny banter too. At one point a physically drained looking Danko vowed never to call a record anything like 'Sleep Is The Enemy' again. "Maybe 24 hour massage" he quipped. He asked if there were any industry folks still there before launching into a menacing rendition of The Cross, followed immediately with The Finger. Here are some of the pics I snapped during the set: JC seemed to be having a blast onstage all show While I was there I said hello to spun and sway who was also there for the industry part at 7:30!! Could you imagine being at a club for 8 hours? Sway can I also saw Mango Kid there, but didn't get a chance to say hello. All in all I really loved the show. Even though it was at an ungodly hour, I'm still really glad I went. I'm so pumpt that I'll be able to see them again in a few weeks in the Netherlands.

i've always loved that live version of Love is Unkind that i found from their Chicago show in '98, 8 minutes and a smokin' tale that's spun.

Sadly, I wasn't there. I ban myself from internet access for a week so I can stay focused on writing and its like I missed out on every good thing that happened in the entire world last week.
Oh well, there'll be other shows. In the meantime, I will keep listening to the new record. It rocks my socks off!

Maybe you can send it to me, Tidy. Or.....you can bring it with you. Ha, I love saying that and I finally can, because it's only a few days before you arrive to our little country ;D

Lol *winks at loes* Ya sorry tdl, no pics to be sent, tired mishap with big fat hands=pics gone forever. I thought woogie boogie was a bit speedy as was wait a minute, tidy. I also loved sugar chocolate, ahhh still one of my favs. I think we all need the 24 hr massage album as well. But, nice pics everyone! Lol I really am a midget. My face also indicates how freakin hot it was in there, I felt like parkdale at the end, only no ravioli in my belly. Sorry u weren't there slade. And you better be there next time rock. I'm glad I got to see everyone even if it only was for a few minutes. I will always wish we could have an entire board show, can you imagine the insanity? So, when I win the lottery (even though I never play) I will fly everyone out here and we will rock our asses off. And parkdale can photograph, so I don't have to deal with technology .

I love the idea of an entire board show, Spun. Let's all agree that whoever wins the lottery has to fly everyone over for a gig

I agree Slade & Loud. Lol I forgot to comment on one last thing from the show. They sang "sleep is the enemy" and the whole time I was waiting to hear the cobra commander voice, giggling internally saying "C'mon do it...doo ithe voice." But there was no cobra commander, just a straight sleep is the enemy. Shame. I try to do it all the time to the song and just end up coughing.

Maybe they mixed up the endings.."SSsslEEEeeeP" *cough cough* I like it anyway, the evil voices inside my head get a chance to sing along. Just never listen to it before bed as soon as your eyelids close "SLEEEP"...you won't be sleeping. BUT play it for friends, if they sleep over. I do love the song, I'm just playin around. Next show, danko's gonna drop the microphone on my head so I pass out during that song. "Cobra commander am I? " *Bonk*
