Danko, you were ROCKING!!!
eventhough we were pretty much fucking sucking. The crowd was so unbelievably boring I couldn't stand it. It was the first gig I went to and a friend said you're always fucking with the crowd, but I think he just didn´t see the stunned anger in your face. In that regard: I loved how you handled the thursday pussycrowd of Amsterdam.
Anyway, I hope I can see you again at a better location soon. You did an amazing job!
Oh, and don´t steal the show from Mr. Calabrese. That´s just not nice.

Hi folks,
We also were at the Melkweg, just in front of the stage. The show rocked!!! Really loved the JC action with 'love is unkind'
If you, mr. anagoxogoras, was just standing in the back of the hall at the bar......well that's pretty boring in deed. But when you stood in front of the stage in the pit ....there was real rockin' going on!
Loved the show, hats off to Danko, Dan and JC!!! see ya saturday.......

I totally agree withanaxogoras! I'm German but I live in Amsterdam for a little less than two years now. I haven't been to ONE rock concert here which actually had a good crowd (and I've seen quite a lot of bands since coming here...). This was also my fifth Danko Jones concert, and I've never seen so many people doing...nothing. My first guess was that Dutch people simply don't know how to rock, but then a good friend of mine told me that it's a different story in Utrecht.
And to Rowan...the simple fact that there's a moshpit and you were in it does not mean that the crowd was good. In fact, If Danko Jones were to play in a retiremtent home somewhere in heck-knows-where, there'd still be people crwod surfing in their wheelchairs...simply because it's the most energetic rock show since the jews were dancing around the golden calf!

Hey all! Well, the show rocked INDEED!! I was standing on the balcony with my girlfriend and without knowing it, I stood next to Loes and Loudmouth! We chatted a little bit and I also saw Mr. Tidyman & the rest of the Dutch Danko Army..well, almost onstage in the crowd! The show itself rocked like a motherfucker, Dan was playing tight, JC was swinging and Danko kicked everybody's ass! We really had to laugh about Danko's in-between-songs-comments, the guy with the sunglasses who yelled 'you suck' @ Danko now knows that you better don't say things like that..wadda loser!! Danko also said that Nicke and Dregen from the Backyard Babies were in the house and also Andy from Therapy?...I spotted Nicke and Dregen behind the mixing desk, but I didn't see Andy.. It was great to see that Danko saluted Todd, picked up the Danko flag, posed with it, kneeled down with it and took it backstage! I couldn't stay after the show, cuz I was recovering from a week of migrain + a nasty cold so I was pretty hammered after the show was over! And the Amsterdam crowd was better than I expected!

Philthy, it was great meeting you at the show. Too bad you couldn't stay. And too bad you were only at the Amsterdamn show, because even though all three shows were good, I think the Amsterdam one was the least of the three. Seemed like Danko wasn't 100% himself that night, but maybe that's just me.

Philthy, it was great meeting you at the show. Too bad you couldn't stay. I couldn't headbang properly during the set, after two 'headbangs' my head felt like it wuz filled with goddamn bricks! After the show it was VERY crowded in front of the wardrobe, my girlfriend and I waltzed through the people who were pushing to get their jackets.. Bought some drinks @ Burger King and had a really good rest that night @ the hotel room! How long did you & the rest stay? btw, De Lama's were really great the night after in Enschede..

Mmm....no headbanging, but you had a good time in the hotelroom??? Which hotel? Not the Quentin by any chance? That's where me and Tidyman stayed (in seperate beds, of course *cough cough*) We stayed at the venue after the show, talked to some boardmembers and then we left around midnight. P.s: the Lama's were great, so they didn't spit in your face???

We didn't stay @ the Quentin, but @ The Museum Hotel in the PC Hooftstraat..so you and Toddyman both slept in seperate beds and now you have a cold? That's what you get when you don't keep each other warm! No, The Lama's didn't spit in my face, I was sitting on the balcony and was out of their reach..

And Amsterdam is a so beautiful city,Dutch people are cool too.I hope I'll be back one of these days,it was too short this time(arrived in the afternoon and coming back driving to Paris the next morning, aaargh!!) Hello to Loes and Beast, see you on April 15th.Sorry I didn't take the time to say hello to the other members(Loudmouth,Tidy,Remcor......)but we had to leave and go to Delft for the night.See ya next time!

Okay at long last, it's time to start posting some pictures. Hard to believe this show was a week ago already. All right here we go... Loudmouth and me met up with Loes and Beast outside of the venue before the doors opened. We ate at McDonalds (cause that's all we had time for). A photo I took while we were walking to the venue. Loes smiled and said "you're such a tourist." From what I understand, you don't go to coffeshops for coffee. The Melkweg. Sold out, bitches. We got in the venue and loudmouth immediately bought a t-shirt. It was only AFTER Loes saw the merch girl and asked if we recognized her that I realized it was Milkei!! She paused from pimpin' Danko apparel long enough to get this pic. (I'd like to formally apologize for looking like a total dork here) Sweden's Quit Your Dayjob were weird, funny and very entertaining. Loudmouth & Loes got themselves a great spot on the balcony. At the bottom of the pic to the left you can see Fatty98 & Remcor 2000. They spotted me and headed over. Took a picture with them... ...and the legendary Dutch Danko Army flag!! Because Brant Bjork & The Bros were playing a month later at the same venue, they sat out this show, so Danko Jones took the stage and played a long, kick-ass set. Here are the pics I took: Fuck what you heard from some nitpicky Swedish fans. DanCo holds it down back there. A good picture taken by loudmouth from the balcony. You can see me dead center, right at the front of the stage, leaning on the Born a Norn Lion flag. After the show, we met up with a few more board members. Here is a shot of Yeahbaby, Loudmouth and Remcorl Me with Yeahbaby, Fatty98, and Remcor 2000 with those crazy eyes! Also met up with Bertus1987. I'm 6'4" but I was looking up at this dude! Don't get stuck behind him at a show. The extra hand you see here belongs to Fatty98. The setlist for the show was a monster. It read like this: I'm Alive And On Fire Sticky Situation Forget My Name Sugar Chocolate First Date Way To My Heart Wait A Minute Don't Fall In Love Baby Hates Me Invisible Woogie Boogie The Cross The Finger Play The Blues Mango Kid She's Drugs Lovercall Sleep Is The Enemy Love Is Unkind ------------------------- MountainAnd yes, Love Is Unkind was the king-size 8 minute version, which has to be heard live to be truly appreciated. All in all it was a great show. I was happy to meet all the board members, who were really cool. I want to send a special shout-out to Fatty98, Remcor2000 and Rowan for buying me beer and giving me a hangover the next day. Yes ladies and gents, Southern Comfort and beer don't mix. And also I have to thank Danko & JC for the onstage acknowledgement, and for kicking my ass. It was a great show...and for any Dutchies who think the crowd was a little too staid? You should see a Toronto show. Trust me, Amsterdam rocked out. Next stop....Utrecht!

Modifying the size of the pics is what takes a while, Bertus.
Philthy our mirror image pics are pretty cool!
It was a lot of fun, that night.

Great reviews Tidy, wish I'd had the time to put some effort in reviewing these gigs. But allas, work and my study (I had exams the tuesday after The Dutch Danko Tour.) got the best of me. I am dead beat and have been in the trenches battling against my worst foe up until now, known unto you as 'Sleep'.
